Crba , do I need to use agent for application?

On the USCIS site , it states that If baby is born in the Philippines to a US citizen father,   His birth can be reported by filing a CRBA .  Is it necessary to hire an agent to take care of the process?    Or can we just fill up the form and mail it in?    Is there an advantage to using an agent even though its more expensive?

There is no advantage to using an agent. I recommend visiting the US Embassy Philippines website for better and more info on CRBA than with USCIS, which doesn't handle CRBA.

I did a CRBA for my daughter here in Thailand. It's easy, I just filled out and mailed the application with copies the required documents and evidence,  a few days later got an email from the embassy for an appointment. At the appointment my wife, our daughter and I went in handed them the originals documents, reviewed it, then they asked us a few questions. Finally they congratulated us on successfully transmitting my citizenship to my daughter and handed my daughter a little American flag.

Pointless.  You will have to collect the required documentary evidence yourself and attend the interview on your own.  3rd-party agents are not allowed in the US embassy in Manila.  So that just leaves filling out the forms.  But if you can read and follow instructions in English, you can fill out the forms yourself.

I did this with my son, who was born in the Philippines. No need for outside "agents".

Just follow the instructions on the DS-2029, DS-5507 and DS-3053

But these forms MUST be filed by the US citizen parent.
