I-797 (NOA2) question

Hi all,

I finally received my form I-797 (NOA2) from the USCIS. I was a little confused though as the form states "The above petition has been approved, and forwarded to the listed consulate. Please contact the consulate with any questions about Visa issuance or if you would now Ike them to forward the petition to a different consulate."

Does this mean my application is not being sent to the NVC? If not, why was my application sent directly to the consulate? The consulate is not stated on the I-797 so does this mean it went to the consulate in my original application?

NOA2 was July 29th, about how long does it take for the consulate to receive my application?

I have contacted the Dublin embassy by e-mail for further clarification but hope to get answers here in the meantime.

Many thanks!

It will still go through NVC as all applications heading to a consulate go this route.  That being said, with a P129F/K1 package, NVC does not do anything with it other than route it to the proper consulate.  Spousal visas are a different matter, petitioners of those type of visas have to upload a lot of supporting evidence when the I130 reaches NVC.

Thank you for your response. It was approved 7/28 and it is now 9/7- was is the current wait time to hear back from the NVC? I am assuming it is a letter that is sent or is it by e-mail?

You have to reach out to find out your NVC case number using NVC public inquiry form.
