I landed in the US on Wednesday with my IR1, and had similar experience at SFO being taken off to a secondary CBP room. Was asked to verify a few phone numbers and addresses, but nothing major.

Also waiting to hear about the SSN and wondering if I can just go to the nearest social security office to get it.

Welcome. Yes you can go to the SSA office and get the process started

My husband just got his in the mail on Saturday, so 10 days after his official entry thru JFK. We didn't got to any Social Security Office, figured we'd wait it out for the 2-3 weeks and see.

Congratulations!!

I did wonder how long it takes to get a SSN, so if you figure out how to get one sooner please let us know! I’m flying out in about a month, and would ideally like to get stuff sorted as quickly as possible.

As a September 2022 I 130 filer  my status has changed in the last few days to 4 months to a decision. That is when you log in to see.

The online checking system with my receipt number still showing case being actively reviewed.

I've been down this road before about one year into the application with this countdown, but I believe it will reach September 2022 well before the end of the year, game on then😃

So eventually got my SSN by going to an SSA office and completing the forms after being here for 3 1/2 weeks and not hearing anything. Very helpful and the document arrived in the post about 10 days later. They said that the process hadn't been started so had to fill out a few forms and show proof of ID, visa and address (thank god I'd opened a bank account already)

Still waiting on the Welcome Notice and the Green Card itself though. For anyone that's already landed and gone through this process, do you know if there's anyway to chase these or find out how long they take to get issued?
