Is there any reason you don't want to apply for N400?

When I looked through the Potomac timelines on VJ a lot of the I-751s took 24-26 months, but almost every case that had an N400 filed concurrently seemed to get approved within 4-6 months of the N400 being submitted (for a total time of 14-18 months since I-751 was submitted).

It is my husband’s personal preference.  Unlike a lot of marriages in VJ, we don’t speak English to one another every day, plus we live in Florida. LOL He would like to be more confident about his conversational English, especially with a native that could potentially use industry-specific/higher level terms.  He doesn’t want an accidental denial or something else because of a language barrier.  Obviously, I would go with him as expected, but he wants to be able/needs to stand on his own with the officer.

Very best of luck to him. English is a horrendous second language to learn compared to Spanish and French! Hopefully he can maybe find some English language for immigrant small groups. Lots of cities have free meet ups for folks to practice their English language skills.

Yes, thank you.  We have seen that link and searched, but the closest is about 1.5 hours from where we live.  We have other resources noted, though, that we will eventually use to get him there.  Just not in a big rush to file N400 in 2023.  Thanks!

All the more reason to speak more English in the home practice does make perfect, but I do understand personal preference!

I’m confused ? Who ? Did you receive one after receiving the 24 months extension ? 😣 this is crazy!

No, but I will.  Anyone currently waiting that received an NOA for 24 months will be getting a new one for 48.  So, don’t be alarmed when you get yours.  New filers will also get them.

N-400 cannot be completed without I-751 (ROC).

N-400 depends on approval of I-751

correct... however in many cases the officer the N400 interview will approve the ROC at the time they approve the N400 request.

but as with everything this is no 100% guarantied.

Hi All,

My wife has an I-751 pending, but I wanted to ask, what do I need to show an employer for work authorization?

Can someone help me with this please?

Kind regards,

Mohammed

What's your immigration status? I suppose US citizen? You only need to show unrestricted social security card and driver license or ID.

Same goes for her, if she removed the restrictions from social security card.

If you are a US citizen, you can say you're a citizen. Your LPR wife should never ever say she's a US citizen, until she naturalizes.

Apologies for the miscommunication, I am asking for my wife because of her I-751.

She should update her social security card to remove wording similar to "Valid for Work Only With DHS Authorization" if she has it written.

Then she can only show her state ID or driver license and Social Security card.

Another, but bad option is to use green card and extension letter. This is bad because some employers don't understand how it works and can ask for new proof when her extension letter is close to expiration. It's not worth going this route.
