I am planning to expedite my case (EB-2) but the reason is not that of medical cause or pregnancies or any kind of hardship. Would ’being a healthcare professional’ suffice? I am a physical therapist and i hear nurses are being approved with the same reason so im assuming i can too since i am in the same field as them. [US Embassy in Philippines]

First i would contact the following to know the requirements for a PT in NYS

NYS Education Department
Office of the Professions
Registration Unit, State Education Building
2nd Floor
Albany, NY 12234-1000
Phone: (518) 474-3817
Fax: (518) 402-2323
op4info@mail.nysed.gov
TDD/TTY: (518) 473-1426

Applicants must meet examination and education requirements. Applicants who have not yet taken the exam can apply for a limited permit. This permit allows someone to practice under the supervision of a licensed physical therapist.

it can't hurt to try

good luck

PT's in NYS are always needed

about 40 years ago the state made homes in the community for handicapped adults and children

there are homes especially for brain damaged individuals (one was local near  me in Ithaca NY)

Veterans need PT

Senior citizens in respite need PT

and instead of keeping people in hospitals for long term care after surgery,  they release and give them orders for PT

I did not realise PT would be EB2

PTs are nowhere near in demand the way that RNs are here.

Never hurts to try though.

PTs are highly in demand as well as RNs for sure in the US thats why both professions are under Schedule A type of visa wherein there is an exception of getting PERM labor before applying for an employment visa to make the overall processing short. Just that RNs are more “known”to be needed in all facilities than any other medical professions.

Thank you though!

There simply aren’t as many PT jobs vs RN that’s why the demand is different.
