JPEG or PDF ?

   It would be easier for me to upload my evidence in a JPEG format. I see that is it accepted. Why do people use PDF files ?

No idea.  Maybe because a pdf is a representation of the item as a printout, if ppl want hard copies?  Also, most scanners default to pdf.

I am not as familiar with JPEG as I am with PDF.  One reason I use PDF is because I have Adobe Acrobat Pro which along with many other functions/features, allows me to "merge" multiple PDFs into one.  We have used this extensively in putting my wife's N-400 package together (we are filing under 3 years rule).  I have merged monthly PDF credit card and bank statements into one annual PDF file.  So when I upload the files, there are less of them to upload (subject to 6 MB max file size).

One needs a way too much know how to do all these things :).

So, should i use my printer to scan the documents into pdf ?

We used PDF only, as when we scanned our documents that's how the files were saved on the flash stick, ie they came up as PDF when opened on the computer so we never had to convert anything. We could also put tons of pages in the same PDF-file. Convenient to have fewer documents to upload.

Yes, i saw the demo video about how to complete the N 400 form. One does not need to upload too much, especially that you can add more after you submit the form in case you want to.

An easier way that may also be less work to you is to import the jpegs into powerpoint and save as pdf.

PDF's can create multipage documents as single files which makes for much more organized collection of data.  It also gives much greater control over the formatting.  For instance a pdf can set the default view to show a  thumbnail index of all the pages, whereby the viewer can just click off the pages they want to see.  It is probably useful to organize evidence in a manner that the reviewer has a very easy time finding what they are looking for with minimal effort.
