Who files i485 and who files i130, if file online?

Hi everyone,

I am trying to file green card application for my mom. After helping her register on USCIS website, I realized that i485 does not show as an option under form selections.

To my limited understanding, it seems that I should be using my account to file i130? And would that trigger i485 for her? Why USCIS website states people like her could file i130 and i485 together?

I am a USC and my mom is currently in US under B2 visa.

Thank you very much!

Lucy

I-485 is paper only.

You fill out the I-130.  If you do it online, your mom will need to wait for the receipt number to fill out her I-485.

If you do it on paper, I believe it can be sent on the same package as the I-485 which would include the I-131, I-765, I-864 by you.  I-131 and I-765 is optional, but you will need to provide the I-864 for her.
