Strange NVC Email

My husband and I are currently in the CR-1 process. We have been DQ’d since March 2022 and are just waiting for an interview to be scheduled. He now lives in another country and have already requested to transfer his case as he resides there and is now a legal resident. I submitted all docs to NVC and are just waiting for the transfer.

However, this morning something strange happened, I received an email stating that his interview has been cancelled and will be rescheduled for another date. We never even received an interview notice to begin with.

Thereafter, I check the ceac website (https://ceac.state.gov/CEACStatTracker/Status.aspx?App=NIV) and my immigrant visa status says my visa number is invalid even though I checked this about a month ago and status stated “At NVC”.

Is this a glitch or should I be worried?

Thanks!

A CR-1/IR-1 is an immigrant visa.  That link is for a non-immigrant visa.  Did you check the correct category?

Yes I am. Just to be sure, the immigrant visa number starts with “IV” right? Not the case number.

I would use the case number.

Ok. Just tried again. Status says “Your search did not return any data”

Odd.  I would expect "At NVC", "In Transit", or "Ready"

Maybe you will receive an interview letter in a few days.

That would be great! Is it possible they can do that without notifying me of the new case number?

you asked for embassy change

could be they assign a new case # as our cases start with the embassy codes?

That’s what I thought too. New embassy, New case number. Maybe that’s why it’s not returning any search result.

Just got an email saying I have been assigned a new case ID. My husband’s interview location has changed as well. So maybe the glitch in the system was due to the change. Thanks for all the help. 😊

Hi. No this is not a glitch. Usually when you change your consulate, a generic email is sent to you, stating that your previous appointment has been cancelled, while you may or may not have had an appointment to begin with. This only means that your consulate has successfully changed, and you should wait for your new case number, which you received. Have a great interview, cheers!
