Question 1:

On the I-129F item 10 asks "Give number of certficate, date and place it was issued" this is concerning my birth certificate. I see a couple of numbers and I'm not sure which one is correct anyone know where on the certificate to look for this number, please?

Question 2:

At this LINK scroll about half way down and after the number "14" you'll see this written:

*Please note, while you are allowed to submit an I-134 Affidavit of Support with the I-129F package, it is not required and the embassy may eventually request that you submit the same information again to ensure that it is still valid. Typically the I-134 Affidavit of Support will be filled out by the US Citizen and sent to the fiance(e) for the K1 interview. It is not required to be sent to the Service Center with the I-129F (and not recommended). Some Consulates require extra information to be included with the Affidavit, so you need to hang onto it until you have learned whether or not there are additional requirements. These will be listed on the OF-167 "financial support" document the fiance(e) receives from the Consulate. You can also refer questions to the newsgroup about experiences regarding the Affidavit. (Also go and look at question 4.3.1)

I thought we have to include the I-134 Affidavit of Support with the I-129F package what should I do please help, thanks. :)

Hi sunsi,

1) I know on my USC fiance's birth certificate he used his "file number" which was listed on the top right hand corner. As I assume each state is different (he's from PA) it may be different for you.

2) I-134's aren't required to be sent with the I-129F. USCIS isn't going to forward the I-134 over to the consulate so it's best to just wait until the interview when they will actually take that into consideration. Submitting an I-134 with your petition will most likely get ignored at USCIS - it's just not part of their adjudication process.

Good luck!

It is my understanding from the example forms that line 10 is for a naturalization certificate #. I see that Nini & Bee used the BC# and it worked so not really sure which is correct. I left it blank assuming they are asking for naturalization certificate. I'll let ya know if they send mine back. LOL I guess best way would be to contact them and verify. Good luck to all of us.

If your birth certificate has a number, you can put it in there. If not, don't worry about it as long as you include the birth certificate.

Submitting an I-134 with an I-129F is waisted effort. You'll need a fresh one for the interview.

Item 10 could be written more clearly I think. It says, "Give number of certificate, date and place it was issued."

My birth certificate has 3 dates on it, the day I was born, the date it was filed (which was the day after my birth) and the date that I ordered the certified copy. I wrote down the date that I ordered the certified copy and I don't feel real confident about that.

I appreciate everyone's help though, thanks. :)

Interesting... I wasn't born in the U.S., but I became a naturalized citizen when I was a baby. I guess the question makes more sense because of that. On my Naturalization Certificate, it says "Be it known.. bla bla bla, in city, state on month, day, year... bla bla bla... is now a citizen!

Forms can be so confusing... even if they aren't, it's easy to make them so! :) Good luck!!!

I thought item 10 was referring to the naturalization cert, and I left it blank....um hope it's ok.

Are you mailing yours Friday?

Me too. I'm actually really nervous about it now.

I will be sending in my I-129F today!! WOW. So I have been giving this some more thought. Since it just says certificate maybe they mean if your naturalized send naturalization cert # and if have birth certificate use birth certificate #. If you included your birth cetificate or naturalization certificate with your packet they have the information. Maybe if they are feeling nice that day they will add it in for you. I am speculating that all this information is being entered into a computer anyways.

I was only going to use my passport as proof of citizenship but have since added a copy of my birth certificate too. My BC also has a date of issue on it so line 10 now reads "BC# SSXXXXXXX Issued April 4,2007 Greeley CO". This should cover it either way.

I'm not going to stress about it. I think the USCIS is more human than we give them credit for. They are still people just like us. I just hope the person processing my petition dos'nt have a hangover that day. :) I will let you know if I get an RFE.

Disclamer- This is only my opinion and should not be used as fact. Consult the USCIS for facts!

Oh no! I thought they might mean for the BC and mine didn't have a number so I just wrote "no number on birth certificate" and then I wrote the date it was issued and the state. Pushbrk, I did NOT include a copy of my BC but instead all pages on my passport (since I compiled the package here in Mexico with my fiance). My mom received the package this morning via FedEx and literally JUST brought it to the Post Office.

My question is they are just using either the BC or the passport to prove you're a US citizen, correct? I really thought I was thorough enough to avoid an RFE, will this probably make the process longer? Will they accept the package even though I didn't list a number or include a copy of my BC. Is there anyway, I can send them a copy separately and have them attach it to that file?

If you followed the instructions and sent a copy of every page of your passport, you have proved you are a US Citizen. If you did as some do and thought, "Why do they need copies of the blank pages?" so didn't send them, you may be in for an RFE.

It is my belief that if you are using the passport to establish US citizenship then only the ID page is required.

However, if you are using the passport to establish you enterance/exit into your SO's country, then they want to see the entire passport so as to hopefully preventing you from including the ID page from your passport and pages 16&17 from someone else's passport who happened to be in your SO's country at the time of your alledged visit. There is nothing scientific to support my theory however.

YMMV

Pushbrk, thanks! I followed instructions and copied EVERY page and even the front and back cover. :) Incidentally, Pushbrk, you always give good, concise, and accurate advice. Thanks so much!
