I heard it differently. Instead the Governor of NY has ordered Republicans to wear pink elephant pendants in preparation for them being given a ticket on Delta basic economy for a mandatory move to Florida.

Which is why they, the Dems, are not running the 2022 election on the issues, but rather trying to bring Trump back into it.  As much as I like Trump's policies and positions, the best thing he could do for the mid-terms is announce he is not running in 2024 at this point (he can always change his mind later if he so choses), and take himself out of the media circus the Dems, MSM, and DoJ is creating.

Respectfully disagree.  This would dishearten the "base" and keep them from turning out:  "If Trump isn't running, why should I bother to vote for those who would support him?"  Or, "If Trump isn't running, all is futile -- DeSantis and the rest simply aren't the same -- and I'm not going to vote at all."
