Ok we had a thread about flies.

Let's talk about mosquitos and the fact that my cat is USELESS when it comes to catching and killing them!!!:angry:

I just said my prayers and while I did I got about four HUGE bites, one on my big toe (just HATE it when they get my FEET!!!). All the while I watched my cat stare at them while they flew around her.

I don't know where the heck they're coming from but there must be hundreds of them in my house 'cause now one is on my screen and my cat is watching one near the lamp by my chair. $@*$#*%Q!~!!!!!

How do I get rid of them without going after each one by one???????

if you have trees at the backyard then its hard to get rid of it especially during this season... my cat is very helpful catching flies (although not that helpful) but he can catch some and eat it  so does for the mosquitos... the thing is they procreate a hundred times so its impossible to get rid of them. smoke it up can help (i think OFF has one product for smoking your sorrounding), and have some bug spray/lotion (although it smells bad and not really good for your skin in the long run)

but what can we do???

get a better cat

nothing survives in my g/fs house she has god knows how many cats now and 1 of them (not hers just looking after) is pregnant.

sorry thought it was a USELESS cats topic my bad....

OK my 2 cents for mosquito if u don't mind killing them a fly squatter is your best friend if you don't want them to die then a glass and a credit card work best.

for big bees etc. tennis rackets seem to do the trick too

try using some Avon Skin So Soft products, lotion or oil. There is something in there that repels them! It does work! Might be easier than chasing them all over the house and it does smell better than insect repellant!

Well for fruit flies I normally put out a few glasses of orange juice and within one to two days they're all gone since they are attracted to the juice and eventually land and drown in it. The only lure for the mosquitos is me, unfortunately and tonight they're feasting. Must be a huge freakin' neon sign out front saying FREE BUFFET!!!!!!!

on a side note a little story since apparently I cannot sleep tonight.................my sister used to have a squirrel problem in her neighborhood until her husband got fed up with it. Finally he got a huge bucket, filled it 1/2 way with water and lined the rim with peanut butter.

They would both be sitting outside on the back porch at night and all of a sudden you'd hear *ker PLOP*, then splashing for a while, then my brother in law would go down to check things out and all would be silent.

Well he went on a fishin' trip and left her alone for the weekend while this was all going on so he gave her instructions on what to do.

He said, "ok hon listen, if you're out back smokin' and you hear the thing fall in the water, this is what you've gotta do:

go down the stairs and grab the bucket next to the trap-bucket,

hold it upside down above the trap....................

now remember, he's gonna look at ya kinda funny and all but don't pay attention

then just plow the thing down on top of it till you don't hear anymore splashin' and just leave it till I get home"

:o:o:o

needless to say she didn't smoke out back the whole time he was gone 'cause she was too chicken!!!!

Check all your screens for holes. Nothing is worse than a mosquito bite on the knuckle. I work a lot outdoors for my job. In one case I was doing some survey work on a river. The mosquitos were so bad. Even though my entire body was covered with clothes, netting etc, I had to keep my hands bare to use the survey equipment. By the time the day was done, my hands were so swollen with bites, I could barely clench my fists.

It's either the screens or more likely the a/c vents.

I think my cat just ate one.

FYI

PREVENTING MOSQUITOES IN THE HOME

Remove their habitat (where they live and breed)

- Eliminate standing water in old tires, buckets, plastic covers, toys, and other containers

- Clean out gutters. When clogged by leaves, gutters can hold water for days

- Clean out street gutters and ditches to keep rainwater flowing freely. Debris such as yard waste and trash trap water, giving mosquitoes places to breed

- Repair leaky pipes and outside faucets

- Ensure air conditioners are draining properly and not causing pooled water

- Empty and change the water in bird baths, fountains, wading pools, and potted plant trays at least once a week

- Regularly inspect the screens on your rain barrel to make sure they are secure

- If your yard contains temporary pools that hold water for more than three days, drain or fill the pools with dirt

- Keep swimming pool water treated and circulating

- Make sure window and door screens are bug tight

Hope this info helps some.

we got a natural spring on our property and a drainage ditch that runs under the street and into the park, Rock Springs park..hmm....maybe, it should be sanita and dean's spring park...anyway, allot of pesky biting mfers...and no spray for that ditch as animals like to drink from the spring..we just suffer and enjoy the friendly raccoons..possums etc...

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).
