Immigrant question

My wife just received her immigrant visa to the USA. It expires Dec 13, 2022. My wife is a teacher with 20 years experience and is currently on a teaching contract in Egypt which ends July 2023.
She plans on coming to the USA on Oct 21, 2022 for five days to activate her Green Card (stamp her visa), but she needs to go back to Egypt to finish her contract. That is important to her as she will need a good recommendation from her school to secure future employment in the USA and also not to abandon her current students during a school year.

So the short question is: can she:
- initial entry: October 2022
- second entry: February 2023
- Final One-way entry: July 2023 or will there might be a problem at POE?

She should be fine but the second absence of over 6 months .. or v close to it .. after a previous absence of 4 months,  may  questions on entry

1. consider applying for a reentry permit as soon as she arrives .. that would give her up to 2 years out without bring seen as abandoning her LPR status ..  Even if it isn't processed before she finally returns, it demonstrates her intent .. consider it an insurance policy

2. Do as much as possible during her initial stay to get drivers license , health insurance, , bank accounts, name on utilities etc as documentation  of her regular ongoing domicile in the US during the period she is in Egypt finishing her contract

She doesn't need recommendations from a school in Egypt to apply for jobs in US. Where did you get that from?

All she needs is to apply jobs here and talk her way. She can set up LinkedIn account and set it up with a location in US and open to employment opportunity. She can also target specific schools if she wants.

Immigration journey is not: fast, for the faint at heart, easy, cheap, for the impatient nor right away. If more than 50% of this applies to you, best get off the bus.

Which state do you currently live in?

Your wife should look at the requirements to convert her teaching license from Egypt to a teaching license to the state she will be working.

She might need references/she might not... She might be able to teach immediately/she might have to take some courses before she can teach.

Can she delay her first trip to the US by a few weeks/ by a month. Maybe have her enter mid November/end of November and then re-enter February or March...

And she might want to consider talking to her school about her situation. Is it possible for her to leave the school between semesters/terms?

The school should understand she has an immigrant visa and moving to the states is dependent on leaving in time.

Good luck! I hope everything works out for you~!

Have a look at this:

https://www.fldoe.org/teaching/certification/foreign-trained-grads/foreign-trained-graduates-or-non-citiz.stml

And then your wife should start looking at teaching jobs in Florida to see the requirements.

Currently Florida has such a teacher shortage that they are allowing veterans to teach with no degree

so ,  i am sure they would welcome her

Her credentials as a teacher will have to verified. She is correct in what she has to do.

There's a big difference between verification and recommendations.

I know the verification process. She has to take some test here in US too. I know people who've gone through that route

Totally agree.   There is a huge nationwide teacher shortage in the United States.

I believe OP's wife's concerns about finishing the school year at her current employer are valid. It's entirely possible that potential US employers could contact her former Egyptian employer as a reference. If she leaves her Egyptian students hanging without finishing the school year, I can see how that would reflect badly on her.
