I am back with an answer to the K2 SSN mystery!

A (knowledgeable) little birdie explained it to me:

K-2s are not and never have been work authorized and must wait for an EAD or Green Card to get their SS#.

USC children ARE work authorized by virtue of being citizens.. they don't have to prove anything other than being citizens. That's why they are entitled to a SS# even if they are only 5.

I LOVE learning new things, so this was particularly interesting to me. I hope that helps!

Congrats to you both!!!

I'm busting my butt here as well to get it all in before July 30th. Right now my main problem is the civil surgeon...he insists he needs to do a full medical on myself and 2 daughters. We had one done in Canada in April. So right now I'm looking at someone else to do it......good grief all we need is the vaccination supplement!!!!

Anyways, good luck on getting yours in!!!

Message me and I'll give you the phone number for the clinic I am using. You can fax the info from the foreign country, records from updated vaccinations from your Health Department or Doctor, send a check/money order for $65 and they will 2 day UPS the I-693 to you.

wow i can say that was fast...Congratulation guys for being together now. Where did you get married and you got your marriage certificate right away. Me and my fiance' are beating the fee hike too...but if we can't make it before the 30th...that's still ok.

imaskin,

we went to the courthouse and got the marriage licence .. waited the mandatory day .. called my preacher (he was remodeling his house and was all sweaty, but he agreed to do it when I called) .. hand delivered the marriage licence completed back to the county clerk and they gave me the certified copy right then.

Good luck beating the fee increase.

CB

thank you...but i guess we can't make it before 30th..i mean we won't be able to file before the 30th. :crying: we will get married in las vegas also we will be having a courtwedding...but someone said to me it will take 2 weeks... :crying::crying::crying: to get the marriage certificate

CB,

You might think about applying for a INDIVIDUAL TAXPAYER INDENTIFICATION NUMBER for Income Tax purposes for 2007. Since you will probably claim Ashley as a Dependent, you can apply for this number with this W-7 Form. I am also applying for this for Mathew, so when I file 2007 Taxes, he will have a number that the IRS requires....... I know this doesn't answer your original question, but I hope this helps you further down the line..... www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/fw7.pdf

By the Way, Welcome to the USA Mylene and Ashley......:dance:
