We have decided to get Mylene and Ashley's AOS out of the way before July 30, 2007 so that we might take advantage of the lower fees ..

Completed

Monday .. Arrived at 5:25 p.m.. Ate their first White Castle Burgers  .. Met the whole family

Tuesday .. Got our marriage license.. talked to the Social Security Admin.. had a show from 7 - 10

Wednesday .. Got married and got a certified copy of the Marriage Certificate.. applied for her Social Security number.. setup appointments for vaccinations and civil surgeon (if anyone needs one they are charging $50 for transferring to I-693 and $15 for UPS 2 day delivery .. completed 2 days after they receive it by fax .. not limited to local .. only downside is that they don't take credit card so they will wait for a check to ship it out)

Looking Ahead

Thursday .. heath department for final vaccinations .. rest

Friday .. Civil Surgeon for I-693 .. trip to the zoo and science center for the kids :) .. show from 7 - 10

My questions are this:

The Social Security Administration would not allow Ashley (K-2) to file for a SSN .. how can we get her one? They suggested a Temporary EAD (for a 5 year old)

The Social Security Administration said that the records of Mylene's visa and/or arrival were not entered into the Department of Immigration (her words) computer yet.. how long does this take?

Are we forgetting anything for AOS that may or may not be required but is definately suggested?

Thanks,

CB

Wow you guys are going FAST!

Usually the immigrant’s info is not entered into the SSN database for about 10-15 days after arrival. If you apply for a SSN before then (as mentioned in the guides and many posts here on VJ), then they (SSN office) have to make out a special application to the govt to request the immigrant’s info, and it may take MONTHS to get the SSN! If one waits a couple of weeks after arrival to apply for the SSN, the immigrant’s info is in the database and the SSN usually arrives within a week. (Here’s hoping your wife will get the SSN ASAP!)

I don’t know about how little Ashley can get an SSN – maybe others here on VJ with experience could help?

Sounds like you have everything covered to file for AOS – besides all the loads of repetition paperwork that needs to be sent in, the vaccination supplement and of course the marriage certificate are the major new things, which you have!

PS here’s the docs I sent in with our AOS:

1. $395.00 (AOS $325.00; Biometrics $70.00)

2. $180.00 (EAD)

3. I-485 Application to Adjust Status

4. Birth Certificate (his)

5. Passport, copies of all pages including visa and I-94 front and back

6. Photos – 2 (his)

7. Vaccination Supplement from USCIS certified Doctor

8. G-325A Biographic Information form (his)

9. G-325A Biographic Information Form (hers)

10. I-864 Affidavit of Support

11. Notice of Action Approval for I-129F Application

12. Marriage Certificate, certified

13. Photos from Marriage

14. Passport (hers)

15. Taxes: Transcripts, 1040, W2’s, 1099’s

16. Employment document

17. Paystubs (6 months)

18. Bank Statements 6 months)

19. I-765 Application for Employment Authorization

Wow, you sure are marching right through to the AOS!

White Castle  I haven't seen one of those places in years!

I don't know about the SSN for the K-2 but it really isn't that important right now. You could wait until the GC arrives.

Claudeth and I want to wish you the best of luck with everything

imaskin,

we went to the courthouse and got the marriage licence .. waited the mandatory day .. called my preacher (he was remodeling his house and was all sweaty, but he agreed to do it when I called) .. hand delivered the marriage licence completed back to the county clerk and they gave me the certified copy right then.

Good luck beating the fee increase.

We plan to beat the fee increase, too, CB - so I feel your pain! Luckily we can get the certified marriage cert on the same day as well (next Friday!).

Sounds like the SSA are a bunch of idiots about the K2s SSN. I see no reason why she'd have to be work authorized to get one  USCs who are 5 years old can get SSNs (and obviously they cannot work!). I'll have a poke around and see if I can find anything about it.

Congrats to the newlyweds! :D

You don't need the SSN to file the AOS. If she doesn't have one yet, just put "None".

Congrats to you both!!!

I'm busting my butt here as well to get it all in before July 30th. Right now my main problem is the civil surgeon...he insists he needs to do a full medical on myself and 2 daughters. We had one done in Canada in April. So right now I'm looking at someone else to do it......good grief all we need is the vaccination supplement!!!!

Anyways, good luck on getting yours in!!!

She can't get an EAD, don't even try it - you will waste money. She will only be eligible for a SSN after she gets her green card. Don't even worry about it - she won't need it for AOS anyways.

Hi Country Boy and sister Mylene,

Congratulations to you guys! Hey guys I didn't submit any additional shots other than my St. Luke's certificate which I included in my AOS, I was thinking I just had my medical in Manila and if I get an interview I would surely be required to have all the additional shots that we don't have in Manila. I have been transferred to CSC and got my EAD approved and I got three touches for my AOS three days in a row so I took a good shot in not getting any additional vaccinations thus saving me money and I'm now waiting for approval of my AOS....

You aren't clear of this requirement yet. You may have saved a bit of money by not getting the additional vaccinations, but I imagine 1 of 2 things will happen: 1) They will send you an RFE requesting the I-693a which will delay your AOS. 2) They will expect you to bring the I-693a with you to the interview and hold approval until you supply it.

The interview letter lists things that you are required to bring to the interview. Our letter indicated that we should bring the I-693a if not already submitted.

I know that SLEC does not give all the required vaccinations needed for AOS. If you didn't get them elsewhere and have them documented on the form provided by SLEC, you will not have met the requirment and will not be approved for AOS until you do. I think you are jeopardizing your AOS.

There is an option number 3. My husband had a Vaccination Suppliment from his medical at the consulate in Italy, form DS-3025. We sent a copy of that form along with our AOS application and were approved with no problem. It wasn't an issue at the interview either. I think it's one of those things that is up to the discretion of the officer dealing with the case. The most it could cause is a delay.

If all vaccinations are complete, then your option 3 sometimes is accepted. However, I know specifically that the medical facility for vaccinations in the Philippines does not give all the required vaccinations--namely the Td vaccination. Unless they got this vaccination elsewhere and had it recorded on the form, they don't have your option 3.
