No harm in trying, but I will tell you from experience you will be wasting the 160 dollars. Tried that with my fiancee from Thailand, and the odds are very low she will get an approval for a B2. Less than 5% I would say. And my now wife did hers before we even got engaged, you already have a immigrant petition on file, your chances are .00001 percent of getting a B2. When my wife went for her B2 she didn't even get to sit down, she walked to the IO desk, he handed her the denial, and she walked away. That was it, not one work was spoken. K1 was no issues, 5 min interview and visa a week later, save the 160 bucks. If you need any pointers for the K1 feel free to message me. I am assuming she already started all her vaccinations so she can get the medical marked complete, best place to get them done is the Red Cross clinic near the Snake farm in Bangkok. Cheap, and they know what is going on for immigrants to the US. I have gotten all my Vaccinations there also it is so cheap. I will be there in October thru November as My wife and I are traveling back for her sons I130 interview, and to work on building our house there on a chunk of land we bought, and hopefully if things go well her son will be traveling back with us.

No, once you receive approval NOA2, they will send your petition to NVC for processing. This is just a stop when you are doing a K1, It will be there for a month roughly while they assign a case number and invoice number. You may get a welcome email from NVC with your case and invoice number. If you don't see the email within about 3 weeks of receiving NOA2, you want to email, or call the NVC to get your case number and invoice number. You will need these to schedule the medical exam, and to track your case at the embassy stage, and also to make payment for the DS-160 when it gets to the embassy. There is a thread here with how to track NVC mailings to the embassy, and you may be able to see when your petition gets sent to the embassy, but while it works, it is a fun process to track DHL shipments. Your best bet it once you get the case number assigned, it will start with BNK for Bangkok, you can track the status using the case tracker and that is the best way to know when it gets to the embassy. Once the status says "ready" you want to get everything together for packet 3 and 4. The good news is that the embassy in Bangkok makes these instructions available on their website in both Thai, and English. You could go download them now to see everything you need to do once the petition gets to the embassy and enters ready status. Once you pay for and complete the DS-160 you should be able to schedule the interview. Back in 2019 I was way ahead and ready to go when the petition hit the embassy, and I managed to get everything done in 3-4 weeks from arrival to the embassy to the interview. This is the stage where you can make the difference in how fast it processes if you have your ducks in a row, and are ready to push thru. Worst case it might take you 2 months or so to get to the interview or so. So your next step is to get NOA2, then 3 weeks after that get your case number and invoice number from NVC, then wait for the petition to get to the embassy. You can message me if you need any help, and I will help point you in the right direction.
