Hello, I am Getting married in December, however I am currently in the United States until December. I was hoping to get the paperwork done and get the marriage license prior to me getting there so that we can plan a specific date and book a venue. I know the Affidavit in Lieu of certificate of legal capacity no longer needs to be from embassy and can be notarized anywhere in the Philippines, but the obvious Issue is I am not in the Philippines.  Anyone know a way around this or will I have to just wait and do it all as soon as I get there. Thank you.

I am thinking this is your first time going to the Philippines?

"If you (or someone else) is getting married in the Philippines, plan on a 3 week trip. Most important, have the Filipino spouse to be, go to their local LCR and ask what is required. Some requirements vary in different areas. Never rely on "they said"!!! Typical response will be, "I asked ____  and they said". You need to find out from the actual LCR. Next they need to also ask the LCR if there is any way to expedite the PSA marriage certificate. You will need that to file for a visa and it could take up to 6 months if not expedited. These are the most important things. You can also research an online Utah wedding. That can be done at any time, or while you are there. You will not need to go for 3 weeks to do that. "

In answer to answer your question. You can only file for a marriage license in person and you will have to wait 10 (working) days to get it. Make sure that you account for holidays in that process. After you get that you can get married.

We didn't get a venue, we had a huge reception at my wife's house. Invited everyone in her neighborhood. 2 pigs 1 for dishes and 1 lechon. 25 chickens. We fed a lot of people that day :)

Nah, Not the first time, Going for a month so I'll have plenty of time.. I am just one of those people that try to get everything prepared if possible prior...  However If we have to file for the license while both being in person, than I guess it wouldnt matter I'll just wait till I get there. Thank you for your reply.

Just make sure she goes to the LCR and finds out ALL requirements to marry a foreigner. That's the best way to be prepared. Then you can make sure you have everything you need to avoid delays.

From one of my reading here, someone was not recommending marriage in Philippines because of bureaucracy and all the drama should a divorce ensue. So, maybe look at the famed Utah Zoom wedding. USCIS recognizes it.

Immigration journey is not: fast, for the faint at heart, easy, cheap, for the impatient nor right away. If more than 50% of this applies to you, best get off the bus.

I am thinking in the future CFO in Philippines will not recognize it, and thus will not get a the famous CFO stamp to exit the Philippines, I say give it a year or so the Utah plan may not be an option.  Frankly I am surprised CFO hasn't already shut down the Utah Online marriage plan.
