Hello my USCIS I-130 case for my overseas spouse was approved and now its moved to the NVC, and I am filling out form I-864 Affidavit of Support, and my question is, on this form it asks for an Alien number and I can see on the notices that i received from USCIS there is an A number but is that A number for me? Or the Beneficiary? The A number is listed in the column that says Petitioner, but I am a US Citizen so i'm confused as to what i should do here.

The A number listed in the petitioner box is for you. US Citizens can have A numbers.

See thats why I was unsure, so currently my spouse doesn't have an A number correct? When would she receive hers, after her interview?

Her (beneficiary) A number is on the NOA2 (approval) for the I130

People are making it hard to understand for you, OP.

1) You, the Petitioner, can have A number if you are not US born citizen, for example. If you, the Petitioner, came to US from another country, and went through the immigration process, would have A number.

2) Your overseas spouse, the Beneficiary, is going through the immigration process now. The i130 you filled is for him, and therefore the A number on NOA2 is the Beneficiary's A number.

3) i864 is asking for two separate A numbers. One for the Petitioner, one for the Beneficiary. Under Beneficiary, you write the A number from i130. Under petitioner, if you don't have A number yourself, you write nothing and leave it blank.

Hope this helps.

And yet you are making it even more confusing. The A number on NOA2 per OP is on the petitioner's box so it's not for the beneficiary but for OP's himself. All i130 approvals don't necessarily put A number for the beneficiaries. If the uscis provide's one for the beneficiary, it will show up on the beneficiary box. It seems A number hasn't been provided to OP's beneficiary yet and it's not an issue.

US born citizens cannot have A-number, it stands for Alien Registration Number. A citizen cannot be an alien. Her i130 got approved, meaning her spouse now has A-number assigned. If OP is not US born citizen and immigrated to the US, I'm pretty sure she would recognize her own A number, as it is the same number that is printed on her citizenship certificate.

Not necessarily. My beneficiary wife wasn't assigned an A number on my i130 NOA2. It got assigned to her much later in the process.

You are ignoring this mentioned by OP.

The fact is:

The A# in the Petitioner's field belongs to the petitioner.

The A# in the Beneficiary's field belongs to the beneficiary. If the uscis hasn't assigned a number yet, there will be no A# listed for that person. That seems to the OP's spouse's case similar to mine.
