Similarly, my boyfriend and I are wondering best place to apply - he is an Uzbek citizen on a student visa in South Korea; we met in school, but I'm back in the US now. He will graduate in January 2023 and apply for Korean D10 visa - "looking for work" visa - and hopefully find work there while we apply for US K1. Can we apply for his K1 through the SK/US consulate, and interview there? How do we document/verify his SK visa status change over time, in a way that doesn't negatively impact our US K1 application?

I just interviewed in SK (I am not Korean).

The only time I had to show my ARC was at the medical. They didn't ask about any change of status I had while the application was pending.

As long as he has an active ARC when he interviews he will be fine.

The K1 visa is taking about 13.5 months to approval but I believe approval to interview in Korea is fairly quick.

IF you think your husband will still be in Korea in the next year and a half you should be fine.

Ok! Great. So I'll apply/interview here; he'll apply/interview in SK, no questions/issues, right? 😅

As long as he is still in Korea with valid status he can interview there.

Make sure you put his KOREAN address as his current address so they schedule the interview for Seoul.
