Sadly, we are almost at 6 weeks since the I-130 was received and we haven’t received our approval. I have my medical scheduled for Thursday but may have to cancel if we don’t hear back from the consulate by then. But I am glad that the rest went quickly for you! I am guessing it’s just a busy period for the consulate right now and that’s why it’s taking extra time for the approvals.

It's weird that it's taking so long. Hope you will get the approval and case number before Thursday!

Thank you, both! We sent them another email this morning, inquiring about the status of the petition and a few ours later we received the approval! I didn't want to bother them again but I guess sometimes it's needed.

Two more questions, if I may:

1. If we want the visa to be delivered to a home address, I need to register at https://www.ustraveldocs.com/de/de-iv-documentdelivery.asp and send the confirmation with the documents correct? The explanation in their email confused me a bit and I just want to double check.

2. Also, you said your interview appointment is on October 2nd. Was that the earliest available date or was it just a convenient date for you? I am asking, so we can have a better idea of the possible timeline onwards.

Thank you!

Great that you got the approval.

1. If I remember correctly, they only require proof of delivery address which is the registration at your current address in Germany.

2. The earliest date was in 4 weeks.

Do you have a German bank account? If yes, I believe you can get it from your bank. We only have N26 accounts, so we couldn’t do that. We got ours from the post office at a military base close to us, because my husband has access to it.

That was one of the biggest challenges.

I think it's hard to get it from a German bank, so I had someone mail me a cashier's check from the US.

I googled it and it looks like it's not easy to get one from a German bank.

My husband talked to his mother and she'll send one to Germany :)

Thanks for your help again

Hopefully the next step is faster for you as well! I would recommend emailing the consulate though, because we asked if we can schedule an interview and we received the “okay” in literally 6 minutes. No need for that if you’re not in a rush, but just a suggestion if you’re worried about not hearing back.

Question for people who have already made an interview appointment: Did you get a calendar to choose a date or did you have to wait to get your request “approved” when you tried to make the appointment on ustraveldocs.com? I always feel like I’m doing things wrong, so I just want to make sure that’s not the case, haha. Thanks!
