Correct. You can't produce what you don't have. 

However, if you are able to file your taxes early (as soon as the tax season starts), you might be able to get the tax return for the interview. If I remember correctly, this year we got our tax return transcript for 2021 two weeks after filing. You might be able to bring 2022 then.

The year you sponsor an immigrant visa is a year to file as early as possible.  Why would you delay?  If it's because 21 looks better than 22, that only impacts the self employed.  You'll still need to provide at least a pay stub as evidence of CURRENT INCOME.  All tax returns are about the past.

I am not sure. Maybe some companies send their w2s late? But still, you're right, better to file early or asap.

The law requires they be sent by January 31.

I was only asking just in case my husbands interview was before we would be able to get my tax transcript back. But now I know what to do if we do and if we dont. Thanks
