Hi, my sis phoned me the other day regarding mail she has been getting forwarded to her from my old address from the tax people they wouldn't tell her anything but that I had to get in touch with them.

About 6 months ago before I came over I got a tax rebate which was all well and good, now as usual I tend to think the worst of things and I'm thinking what if they said there was a mistake made and I had to repay money back to them, what is my situation now that I am in the USA incidental they were informed of my departure from the UK from the accountant.

Then again it may even be another rebate

I believe there is some sort of form you have to fill out to notify them of your leaving the country. I would assume your accountant would have sent that over - but it can't hurt to send it again.

Friend of mine from an old job had a problem with them when he moved back to the UK after his company contract came to an end. The Inland Revenue wouldn't believe that he had been living outside of the country, and presented him with a 2000 quid tax bill (complete with various fines and penalties thrown in).

I beleive you need to fill out a P85 (moving abroad) and send it in to them. After that if, you will receive your IR mail direct to your US address.
