Does Petitioner Ever Get Interviewed?

I'm confused - does the petitioner ever get interviewed throughout the entire CR1/IR1 process? This is for a Canadian beneficiary and an American petitioner.

I thought maybe the petitioner would get interviewed on their end to make sure the marriage is legit, but it seems like they only interview the beneficiary? Can't find anything online.

Thanks!

In rare instances, a petitioner will be brought in to the local USCIS office before petition approval.  It's not a part of a normal process.  Visa interviews are for visa applicants.  Petitioners don't apply for visas.

Usually only if fraud is suspected.

Yeah, I know petitioners don't apply for visas, so what would those rare cases they get interviewed be for?

Suspected fraud related to their own earlier immigration or a prior petition.  You do NOT want this.  Even if everything is OK, it's a several month delay in your process.

It's quite rare for sure, but not unheard of. What seems to happen more often is that USCIS will issue RFE's and if the petition is approved but the Consular Officer has doubts, they can send the petition back to USCIS for revocation. If any of this happens in a USC-Canadian case I'd be surprised, there'd have to be red flags abound rather than a lack of evidence.

It has sometimes been the case in the past that the petitioner could accompany the beneficiary to the visa interview, but the Montreal consulate which is the only post in Canada which issues immigrant visas, does not allow this.

The petitioner can get interviewed either in the US (if they suspect fraud) OR they can get called to interview at the consulate after first interview (if fraud is suspected).

Here in Korea, the petitioner can accompany the foreign national to the interview and they'll be asked a few questions but it is not mandatory the petitioner attend.

Like I said, if fraud is suspected.

Time for the OP to simply accept that unless they have some shady immigration related past, they will NOT be interviewed.  I've been around here since 2005. I've heard of a few cases out of so many thousands.  Ecuador as a noted exception.
