Hi everyone. Just waiting for IL at MTL.

Do I need to bring my 18 year old sons birth certificate with me to the consulate, even though he is NOT moving to the US?

No.

Immigration journey is not: fast, for the faint at heart, easy, cheap, for the impatient nor right away. If more than 50% of this applies to you, best get off the bus.

Yes during my friend's interview and her daughter was to come in the future.. she was asked about her daughter's birth certificate and photographers taken together with her child from small till date. She didn't have them and was asked to submit them before visa will be issued. So I would advise you to just go with them, it won't cost you anything. Good luck.

Even if he has no plans to? We didn’t file a petition for him as he wants to stay in Canada.

If you mentioned him or her in your petition then whether he or she is going in the future or not, I think you should just go with everything.

There's no need. Of what benefit will it be to OP or IO's interest? The interview here is not for the child nor will the child's BC prove paramount to interviee getting a visa

You would think so that it has nothing to do with the child which is the right thing.... But I still advice go with them or follow your heart. I am talking out of experience.

Is your spouse (aka the I-130 petitioner) listed as one of parents on your son’s birth certificate?

Then you don’t need it.
