Hey guys,

I have a question to those of you who entered the United States with an immigrant visa. Did you have to fill out the APIs form that airlines usually require ?

it says on the website of the airline that US citizens and greencard holders should NOT complete the form.

How about immigrants entering with their visa for the first time ?

I am a little lost.  Are you talking about entering your passport and visa information on the airline's check-in process?  If so, typically everyone has to fill that out - it let's the airline know that the person will be allowed entry at the destination country.

If you are talking about a I-94, those have been obsoleted for a while - it's all electronic via machines at the POE.

If it is something different, then I would follow instructions.  As an arriving immigrant, you are not a USC or LPR, yet.  I assume you would need to fill out the API.

After entering with your visa, you will become an LPR when the CPB endorses your visa, depending on the visa.

Sorry, my question wasn’t clear enough. You’re right, Everyone has to fill it out. But then there comes a part where it’s asking “if this person needs a visa, please enter its details here” .

do I put my visa information on there ? I’m immigrating on an IR1 visa. Just don’t want to do something wrong and end up filling it out when I shouldn’t have to and possibly cause any problems.

I attached a screenshot.

thank you for your help :)

this form is used by airlines and cruise ships to help CBP  to know if any passenger needs a visa

my step daughter had to complete this as a purser on cruise ship for passengers without proper visa/ or LPR or USC

These forms are airline specific.

I think is for airline records

Immigration journey is not: fast, for the faint at heart, easy, cheap, for the impatient nor right away. If more than 50% of this applies to you, best get off the bus.
