Is a letter from the bank required for the I-864 along with checking and saving statements? I seen different answers but they were is really old posts so I don't know what the current requirement is.

I just want to make sure. Thanks in advance.

Letter from bank is only needed if you plan on using assets to make up the difference between 125% povertyline and your income.

All that is required for I-864 is last year's IRS return, and transcript will work fine for that.

Our I-864 for AOS included

  • I-864EZ
  • Past 3 year's IRS returns 06, 05, 04 (1040, W2, 1099)
  • 04 and 05 IRS transcripts (Redundant)
  • Past few weeks pay stubs
  • Letter from employer

If your income is above 125% povertyline, and you don't need a joint sponsor, and not using assets, and are sponsoring 1 immigrant, then consider using I-864EZ

ALSO: I-864 IS ONLY FOR CR-1/IR-1 VISA, AND AOS I-485 IN THE USA, NOT FOR K-VISA INTERVIEWS.

If this has to do with K-Visa interview you will be using I-134 not I-864, I-864 is used with Immigrant visas like IR-1/CR-1, Adjusting status I-485. The I-864 is used for Green-Card not K-Visas.

In our case this what the I-134 included.

  • I-134 signed and notarized.
  • Tax transcripts from the IRS for past 3 years, (Redundant for the (1040,W2,1099) but are free from the IRS
  • Photo copy of IRS form 1040, and W2s for past 3 years
  • Letter from my employer stating annual salary, job responsibility, and that is full time, on company letterhead.
  • Photo copies of past 6 months pay stubs up to a few weeks before the interview.
