I am a new member to this forum. My husband, a USC, has filed I-130 for my kids (all below age 13). We received the NOA 1. I would like to know what steps you go through (for those who have gone through this).

Do we have to travel back to the local (foreign beneficiary's) embassy or can we delegate an adult to take the kids to the embassy?

My ex passed away in 2000, I have read some posts about parental consent, what should I expect in this case?

Are the children going to be subjected to interviews like spouses/fiances?

What other requirements can we start to prepare to make this a trauma free experience for the kids? I have read and heard a lot of not so nice stories about the embassy in Lagos.

Finally, you guys are awesome in the way you respond to people's post, Try Visapro!

I'm glad I found this website

It is basically the same as for an adult, but Lagos and Children I do not know.

Normally accompanying childen would not be interviewed.

Good question, sounds like you are not with them, who has custody?

No

Lots of fraud, which inevitably impacts others.

Are you in the US, if so what is your status. May be a requirement for a DNA test.

Quote from a well respected Immigration Lawyer:

It pays to remember that the Department of State has a "fraud profile" by overseas post -- and from bad to worse on fraud it is -- "low fraud", "medium fraud", "high fraud", "Lagos". [i've been told this by ex-ConOffs].

I'm applying for my stepdaughter. Filed the I-130, now going through the last steps at the NVC. When time comes for an interview are you saying that she won't get interviewed? If I show up at the embassy will I be the one interviewed?

I would love to answer your question but I am even earlier in the process than you are. I tried to check your timeline but could not find one. Could you please tell me what steps are in the NVC? And what you did/received after NOA 1?

Thanks
