Work as security guard

I got an offer to work as a security guard. The pay is pretty good, but I will be trained and licensed to carry a gun. I’m currently on my 2 year GC. Good idea or so should I look for a different job? I don’t want the license to affect me.

dont see any reason why you cant take the job. if you have licensed to carry a gun for your job, it wont affect your green card

green card holders can buy a gun

carry permits vary from state to state and in some states from county to county

so,  check into that 

 

i believe u state NYS and NYC  the rules there are now going crazy

so, IF  it is NY ask the right people 

 

It is illegal to possess an unregistered handgun. Open carry is not addressed in New York state law, although a New York Pistol License (NYPL) is required to possess a loaded handgun outside of the home or place of business. Concealed carry is only legal with a NYPL.Jul 6, 2022

As an LPR you have a constitutional right to wield a fire arm. 
 

If you plan to naturalize, take note of the occurrences of the word “weapon” in https://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/document/forms/n-400.pdf

 

Obviously police officers and members of the armed forces have successfully naturalized, so I don’t anticipate a problem. But plan to be crisp and clear when you answer those questions.
