Timeline

I believe CBP will  crack down on this practice. I would expect the subject person of the OP to have a hard time entering the USA again even if the B visa is not canceled.

I would doubt he’d be able to board a plane or be admitted with inspection anytime soon.   It was an unfortunate choice to overstay, and a 10 month stay on  a tourist visa could be seen as an abuse of the privilege of having a visa.


They would be right to wonder how someone could afford to stay for that long, and whether they would overstay the next time.
