N400 Interview Scheduled with Pending i-751

Hi all! I am new here and I was wondering if anyone had run into a similar situation to mine.

I filed form i-751 in May 2021, (WAC Receipt #) and it is still pending. I decided to file for N-400 under the 3-year rule this past April 2022. Shortly after (mid-June), my form i-751 was transferred from the local CA office to the NBC. According to the letter from USCIS, they had completed a "preliminary review" of my case, and it was transferred to the NBC as part of "standard processing."

To my surprise, USCIS schedule my N-400 interview a few weeks later (early July) for the end of this month (August). However, the interview notice for the N-400 did not mention anything about my pending i-751, and whether this will be a joint interview. Has anyone been in a similar situation? I am planning on bringing my spouse with me, but letter for N-400 interview is very clear about not bringing anyone with you. I am also thinking that since my i-751 was sent to the NBC in MO, the Los Angeles office where I will be doing my n-400 interview won't have access to the documents for approval.

Thanks to everyone that can provide any input on my situation!

Your situation is not uncommon and you should expect a combo interview.

If your spouse is not permitted to enter by the office guard, then your spouse should wait outside and be ready to be summoned and checking the phone every 5 minutes.

Bring your I-751 extension letter and inform the IO of your pending I-751. Sometimes the IO is the last to know.

We had largely the same situation as you with a n400 interview scheduled in May with a pending i751 and it turned out to be a combo interview. Be prepared for the combo i751 n400 interview by bringing your spouse and updated proof. That is the most likely thing that will happen, I think there is a small chance USCIS will not be ready to do the i751 but that is unlikely given how often this occurs.

We both had no issue be admitted to the field office interview together with just the n400 invitation letter.

Good luck
