No it contains more than the medical results, it contains documents supporting the approved visa, and is to be delivered to officer at POE, the officer there will open the package. If it is opened before, the officer can suspect tampering with the contents, and revoke the visa.

thanks for your fast response! when does she receive it? who sends it? and does anything else come tih the envelope?

thanks for the heads up

cheers

She receives it with her Passport and Visa from the embassy after a successful interview, sometimes everything is in a large clear envelope, she can open the large clear envelope to retrieve passport and visa, just don't tamper with the sealed document envelope.

When Elena got hers it came in 2 packages one she could open the other she could not. The first time she got the wrong passport(someone elses) and her paperwork, had to send them back and wait a few more days for the real one at our expense.

Wont go into a rant on how the embassy should have to pay for mailing the wrong stuff but I wont.

Or how safe/secure it makes us feel about letting someone else hold our passports. That's pretty messed up she receieved someone else's passport/visa. What if she would've been someone who had always desired to go to the U.S. and now had a "free pass?"

Kind of reminds me how I would always see lists of social security numbers on government documents and at the very bottom it would say "this information is covered under the Privacy Act of 1971. Unauthorized use or disclosure of this information is punishable by law." Yeah... that's going to stop the identity thieves! "I was going to steal these socials... but dammit, they're covered under the privacy act. Shoot. Got me good. Oh well, maybe next time."

Luckily the embassy still had her passport. I can imagine being told she would have to get a new one. How would she explain that to the Russian authorities, "excuse me, I need a new passport, the U.S. gov't lost mine"...

Biometrics solved this problem. And at least the passport is being sent to people who have applied for US visas. It would be far worse if it was just sent to random people in Russia. Such folks have no common interest, those people could simply trash the passport all together.

There you go again that privacy act was good until the Patriot act but I covered that rant in another thread.
