Entering the States after DQ but before interview

Hi all, I'm a Canadian citizen that got DQ recently and now waiting for my interview. My husband is a greencard holder and lives in the States.

I have to sign a document in the States soon. I'm planning to drive and stay for one night only. I'll be with my two young kids and my husband (he will drive up to canada and drive to the states with me and back).

I'm wondering if I'll be rejected at border or will my entering the states affect my forthcoming interview.

Is there any proof i can bring or any way i can show the immigration border that i have full intention to return to canada?

Any experience or suggestion is greatly appreciated!

Bring a copy of your DQ letter, but no need to present if the topic of your pending case does not come up.  Bring proof of your ties to Canada.  More suggestions in the thread below --

Are you coming through New York or Michigan?  I can say from my USC perspective of Michigan-Canada travel (both Sarnia and Windsor) neither sides' officers barely blink an eye at day trips and maybe a couple more questions if I was spending a couple nights in Canada, but never a hassle.

Aren't our 2 countries visa free for short trips?  I assumed so since we usually see so many Ontario plates at holiday shopping time if the exchange rate is favorable.

I already made the trip from Ontario to US (through buffalo). Everything went smoothly. they asked a bit of questions (nothing out of the ordinary) like how long am i staying in the states, etc. also reminded us that we have to wait for our interview in Canada or might jeopardize our visa. He asked us to pop the trunk (i guess to see if our amount of luggages matche our days of intended stay).

the two countries are visa-free, but i've heard if they suspect you are trying to enter the state and not come back to canada, they can turn you away at the border.
