TL;DR

What documents does an American need to bring to the Philippines for marriage and to fulfill the needs of a I-130, spouse visa?

Sorry if this is a repeat question, but I spent some time searching for it on visa journey — guess their search engine is not that great. :P

If you (or someone else) is getting married in the Philippines, plan on a 3 week trip. Most important, have the Filipino spouse to be go to their local LCR and ask what is required. Some requirements vary in different areas. Never rely on "they said"!!! Typical response will be, "I asked ____ and ____ and they said". You need to find out from the actual LCR. Next they need to also ask the LCR if there is any way to expedite the PSA marriage certificate. You will need that to file for a visa and it could take up to 6 months if not expedited. These are the 3 most important things. You can also research an online Utah wedding. That can be done at any time, or while you are there. You will not need to go for 3 weeks to do that.
