Thank you! Yes, we are both from Iran which I suppose is the main reason.

Anyways, the good news is that you will get at anytime soon! There are lawyers specialized on this form…. This is not the end! Just a few more days for you to save some money and move to the US with better financial resources :)

Thank you so much for your warm message :) I appreciate it. Yes, hopefully we will get there soon.

Hi all, I will like a clarification. Are the Montreal ILs sent based on PD or based on DQ date or both?

My PD is Dec 2023 and my DQ is April 2024, so should I expect my IL next month or so, or is it further into the future?

Are you sure AP takes 1-2 years? I'm an Iranian national and used to get F-1 visas. My APs used to take 3-4 months. Obviously, immigrant visas are different but 1-2 years is extreme.

It *can* take 1-2 years, or even longer. That’s not to say every case will though of course, some are only weeks.

They’re sent in order of DQ, but only if your PD is current, and yours isn’t. So you still have a way to go.

Please fill in your timeline to ‘pay it forward’ and help other EB applicants, thx.

This is what I understood from other Iranians who went through AP at the Montreal embassy. However, as others have mentioned, each case is different. I hope that ours gets cleared sooner but I don't think so. I know some people who have been waiting for 17 months now.

Out if curiosity, how long have you been in canada. I have been in canada for 20 years. Getting a AP just because my country of birth would be unfortunate when I life here most of my life.

The difference is being handed the DS-5535, which is extreme vetting, versus AP, which is much less invasive.  I'm sorry you're going through that.  There is another thread on the Canadian forum for people who've been handed a DS-5535.

Unfortunately, there have been people on the other thread who immigrated as infants or small children and were still put in line for extreme vetting.

We have been here for a while, but unfortunately, Iranians are keep getting the DS-5535 form no matter how long they've lived in Canada.

Thank you! The officer told us:" I need to put your case in AP and I am going to send you DS-5535 form to fill out." I'm not sure how to interpret that :D
BTW, the DS-5535 form didn't include any questions about social media usernames. Apparently the general DS-5535 does ask for them.
