I have not completed my interview yet, but I have registered and that is exactly how I have done it too.

Hi all, 

 

This morning I received an email from "MontrealVisaDoNotReply@state.gov" which with title "PREPARING FOR YOUR IMMIGRANT VISA INTERVIEW". Has anyone received such email? I am waiting for my interview on Jan 10th. The email provides some generic steps such as asking for documents to bring like passport, interview letter, photos, etc. 

 

Few confusing things in this email - can anyone share ideas?

 

1- The date of my interview is January 10, 2025 but in this recent email they indicated October 01, 2025. It looks like whoever was sending the email is reading the date wrong by switching the month and day (10-01-2025 vs 01-10-2025). 

 

2- The instructions also point to an online form which seems to be the notorious DS-5535 form (Administrative Processing). Is this normal? Should I start filling it out? Has anyone ever received a link to DS-5535 before they go for the interview? Should I just ignore that link?

How was it written exactly in your letter? Mine said 17-Jan-2025.

This is the snippet from Interview Letter (PDF) - BTW, I have already registered and received confirmation of my registration for Jan 10, 2025. 

 

And this is from the email this morning:

 

 

It just looks like someone has read the date 01-10-2025 wrongly (mm-dd-yyyy vs dd-mm-yyyy). That is not so much of a concern, but the DS-5535 is!

So you have received the same email too? Does your email also have the link to the "online" form (which is essentially DS-5535) at the end too?

Regarding the date, yours will be easier to not mess up since it is on the 17th, and there is no 17th month, so they cannot make the same mistake...

Read these instructions carefully. If you or your family members arrive at your interview unprepared or with incorrect documentation, the Consulate may turn you around and require you to reschedule.

All applicants must present the following original documents and copies as well at the interview:
- A copy of your NVC interview letter (does not apply to Diversity Visa, fiancé(e), adoptive, or asylee/refugee applicants)
- Unexpired passport for all applicants, valid for six (6) months beyond the intended date of entry to the United States

Don’t panic, shoot them an email. Moreover. I think they’re introducing a new way of background check so that they can lessen admin processing afterwards.
it could be an indication from upcoming govt. if someones background check starts beforehand, it’s infact a good sign, as it may curtain wait time afterwards
