We have our interview soon but there are some changes to our plans. My wife is a student and she finishes her studies next year as she is in maternity leave right now. So, the plan is to get the immigrant visa, go to US, stay there one-two months, get the green card and come back to Canada so she can finish her studies.

Will this change of plan cause any problem in the interview?

I wouldn't tell this at the interview. I would just say that you are planning on wrapping things up and moving to the US as soon as possible (which is true).

It's the same for my husband, he needs to finish something with his degree and will stay behind for around 1 to 1.5 year. So we are planning to go to the US for a couple of months upon issuance of the greencard and get him an i-131 Re-entry Permit just in case before he goes back to Canada to finish things up (but we won’t say that at the interview).

Did anyone else get this email from an email address? Interview is in January.

I was wondering- was your name also listed as Last name then First name in the email with a space before the comma? The name is formatted funnily and wondering if it's spam... or if it's that way for everyone.

It came from a funny iContact email address: donotreply+visa-info.com@icontactmail3.com

Thanks, everyone!

Yes, I’ve received the exact same email, not for myself but for my son. However, I’ve already registered delivery for us. I thought there might be an issue with my son’s delivery registration, so I tried to verify it with the consular office but was directed to the following page: http://canada.usvisa-info.com, where we had already completed the delivery registration. I’m not sure what else to do at this point.

May I ask how your name was displayed after "Dear"?

Maybe it just goes to the primary applicant only...

I received the same email at my email address but addressed to my wife. I don't think it's anything important.

Were you able to see whether it was addressed Dear Lastname Firstname or vice versa?

Curious how it showed for others..

That makes no difference. All EB applicants are the same tier for interview scheduling - https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/visa-information-resources/visas-news-archive/immigrant-visa-prioritization.html

Yes agreed. We are classified as Employment Fifth Preference (E5) Immigrant Investors... nice to see some around here now.

Hello, Can anyone who has crossed border with the immigrant visa recently let me know if the border agent will also process the new SSN card request?

Many have said they got the SSN in 10 days after immigrating.  Was it done separately by going into an SSA office in US or was it initiated by the CBP officer at the border since we mention in the DS-260 that we need the new SSN.

Thank you.

@sunnylank When you filed the DS-260, it asked you if you wanted to get a SSN. If you checked that you wanted one, you'll receive it at the same adress as the green card.
Please note to not change anything to your DS-260 as changing anything will reset your DQ date. You can update the delivery adress at the interview if it has changed since then.
It has nothing to do with the border agent.

Thanks for the response. I have already received my IV and have immigrated to US last week. I was told by the border agent that they will only process the green card but that I need to apply for the SSN separately at an SSA(Social Security Admin) office.

I was surprised because many who went with IV before mentioned in the forum that they received the SSN to the same address and no one mentioned going into SSA office to get that done. So I wanted to check from someone who recently entered with IV and received their SSN card.
