Hello, Just checking to see if anyone who attended the interview in September 2024, received their GC after entering the US. I am trying to understand how long it would take.

Following was @Froozion's experience:

Hi all, Just wanted to give a final update. We crossed the border on 18th october. Received our SSN on 1st November. Received our green card 8th November. Thank you for all the help and support in this group over the years. Good luck to everyone else still in the process. I wish you fast interview letters and no AP for you all. Good luck!

Question to previous interviewees. Can we take minor (who is US citizen) in the interview? Has anyone had similar experience in this regard?

We were allowed to take our 15-month old US citizen with us. If your minor is that young, it's also allowed to bring in some snacks for them and maybe an activity book for them to color for toddlers. We didn't take any snack for our child because we thought we couldn't - we saw some others that did. He later became so fussy, and they wouldn't let us run to the car to get anything after we got in.

Does anyone know how long it takes to get DQ after sending documents by mail to NVC? Documents were mailed Nov 14, 2024.

2-4 weeks

Please is there a separate platform for those waiting for Welcome Letter from NVC after the approval of EB2-NIW?

@Tom007 Not exactly sure what you mean by Welcome Letter: you mean your DQ letter (the letter saying all your documents and DS-260 are approved and you are now in the queue for an interview)? You will receive the DQ letter by email. You will receive it and your lawyer will receive it by email as well.

It usually takes a month after i-140 approval for the case to be sent from USCIS to DOS. When was your I-140 approved?

Hi everyone,

I have some questions and will appreciate your answers pls

(1) Just got my immigrant visa, Can I go to the border on weekend, Sat/Sun and get processed in.

2) My plan is to go for initial entry and come back to Canada till June before my final relocation to US. Is there any danger with the plan

3) Do I need to inform the border officer about that?

Thanks

Congrats! I heard people doing that before. However, the new government might be a bit strict with entries. So far i heard from my friends that for the first year, it’s a bit flexible. As they know people need time to relocate properly. Try to keep traveling for short time until you move there permanently.
apart from that, could you shade some light on your timeline?

For those who have crossed the border or done the initial entry process, is there a way to track the delivery of the printed green card or the SSNs?

How can I know how much time it can take?

For the green card, yes, you use the usual tracking site but put your receipt number in from when you paid the green card fee. You can't track the SSN's though.

SSN's are usually delivered in 10-14 days or so (assuming you ticked that box on the DS-260), green cards about 4-6 weeks but can take up to 90 days.
