Montreal embassy EB-2 interview wait time-Part 2

I got my passport yesterday. It took them only 3 days to send the passports after the interview. This was very quick - I was not expecting that. Picked up the passport in the afternoon and drove to the land border at Niagara at night. Activated the green card and drove back into Canada. The activation/first entry process was very straightforward. Officer was really nice, polite and helpful. He explained that I could use the endorsement on the Immigrant Visa for multiple entry exit till I receive the green card in mail. Overall it took 45 mins at the land border.

Happy to answer any questions.

We had our interview on Sept 20th. Verbally approved  but Refused due to visa limit. We were told the visa will be available by Oct 1st. We are still waiting to get an email requesting our passport. We would like to hear from those of you whether you have received the email requesting your passport.

You should email them. Sometimes they call over phone and you might miss that. Who knows

INTERVIEW -SEP 20 2024

Thanks

Keep us posted on the outcome. I got refused on the same notion (Sep 4, EB1 interview, statement read that I’d have to wait until after Oct 1st) after getting verbal approval at the consulate. But from what I gather, they just snuck me into the admin processing queue.

I hope it’s not the case for you. So Id be curious to know if you get a reply.

I had my interview yesterday, November 8th.

My appointment was scheduled for 8:15 AM, so I arrived at the consulate around 7:50. I was promptly let in, and the process began smoothly.

The first counter call was to submit my documents, the second was for biometrics, and finally, I had the interview. Everyone was professional and courteous from the guards to the officer conducting interview and the docs.

For the documents, my employer letter was a wet-signed original . However, it seemed they didn’t have a strict requirement, as there was no distinction made between a wet-signed letter and a printed copy sent by email.

This detail didn’t appear to be of particular interest to the officer collecting the paperwork.

The officer conducting the interview was especially kind, allowing us a moment to settle in as I had my 2-year-old with me. He even offered her a candy, which was a thoughtful gesture.

The interview itself was straightforward, with basic questions about my employer, position, and job responsibilities. We even chatted a bit about college football and the NFL, making the experience more relaxed.

Finally, he asked me to sign a letter stating that I would work for my employer once I received my visa. He then informed me that my visa was approved and `issued`and wished us the best for our time in the U.S.

As of now, my CEAC status still shows as "Ready," with the last update date of November 4th.

Any idea from ppl that have been through us processes to why this status is till ready and last updated on the Nov 4th?

Chiming in. When did you send your passport? And when was your interview.

I remember you saying you were in the same boat as me

Sent email to consulate to confirm passport delivery, they replied on Nov 4th stating mail goes to offsite processing facility and takes time to reach visa unit

Yes, we got 221g because of visa limit and we need to send passport upon request. Did you receive the request to send the passport or you just mailed to them?

Thanks

This is so madly inconsistent.
All three of us got 221gs stating we have to wait til Oct 1st. No additional docs required.

They kept my passport.

The requested your passport almost a month ago.
and Quebekwa hasn’t gotten their passport requested yet haha.

Im so curious to find out which order this all unfolds in.

If I had to guess, you should be issued very soon. And I’m crossing my fingers for you.

@Quebekwa ndui At the interview, I was given 2 papers. 1)221g with visa limit reason and passport listed in docs to submit, 2)instructions about how to send the documents to consulate

Did you also get these two? Your 221g also lists passport as docs to be submitted?

@AndrewsNthey didn't request passport in October. They gave me a paper along with 221g on interview day itself with instructions on how to submit documents. I waited till second week of October and then mailed my passport along with courier-in-receipt(generated from AIS). My last update was nov 4th (thats when I got email response as well). What is your last update date on ceac?

Agh, I see.
My last update was on Oct. 22nd. So it’s been a little while now.

I’ve just chalked it up as being in AP at this point. I feel as though no matter how trivial the stated reason on a 221g is, it means the same thing. But again, I hope I’m proven wrong.

Hi folks, it's been 3 weeks since my interview where I was verbally approved and my passport was held for processing. CEAC still says "Ready" and I haven't received any sort of tracking notification (I'm picking mine up at the post office). Is this a normal amount of time? Have people slipped into AP while their passports are being held in Montreal?
