Crossed the border by car earlier today into Michigan and activated my visa. I stated that I needed to activate my permanent residence and was directed to secondary inspection. Went inside, had my picture taken and the officer told me my visa was activated and that the cards would be sent. He told me he didn’t need the envelope with paperwork since it was all digital now and he didn’t take my fingerprints either. Not sure if others had the same experience recently. I will ask again when my wife and daughter activate their visas tomorrow on the Mexico-Texas border. As I was leaving, one officer told me “Welcome to Freedom”, and I laughed out loud.

Hey everyone, this is specifically for the folks that had their interviews throughout September and possibly late August (in EB categories).

 

I need some clarification on where I stand with this. 

I was approved on the spot but then about 4 days later emailed a 221g with an explanation in bold letters indicating that they need to wait until October 1st to process.

 

No other documents or info was requested and my passport is still at the consulate.

 

Did anyone else get the same runaround and get issued out of this September batch?

I'm trying to figure out how much weight that 221g carries with it given its (stated) reasoning.

did you email them asking update about your case ?

I did. I got a case update date change and a reply stating that the case is pending review from an officer.

 

a Google search of the exact quote prompted some optimism from a lawyer suggesting it means it’s likely back from the necessary security checks.

 

but it’s all hypothetical at this stage it seems. They still have my passport- which I suppose is another positive sign.

 

that form that was issued has some scary context on the online forums. But it’s different because it seems to have been issued on the visa shortage basis (as was the case for the @texasbound acccount). 
 

Just trying to gauge if this is a 2 week or 12 month setback…

I think you will soon receive your passports with visas, just a matter of time. Hang in there, I know these waiting days are very hard to pass. Good luck and prayers for you !!

They can’t take more than 6 months as your US landing time ties up with your medical expiry.

I have no idea why we need to contract them again on October 1st, I thought we were already in line for processing, but at least I got the confirmation on the medicals and will obviously email them on the 1st.
