I think this bears repeating...

As of July 30th. all I-129's MUST be sent to EITHER the California or Vermont Service Center.

http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/men...00045f3d6a1RCRD

• Petitioners will file the Form I-129F with either the VERMONT Service Center or California Service Center, depending on where the petitioner resides, and regardless of whether it is filed for a K-1 iancé(e) or a K-3 spouse.

This represents a change from current I-129F filing instructions, which direct the filing of K-1 petitions to all four USCIS service centers and the filing of K-3 petitions to the Chicago Lock Box.

USCIS will release new forms with updated filing instructions in the near future. In order to assist the public in determining the proper “Direct Filing” location, USCIS will also release filing charts that list proper filing locations on the online forms entry page for each form in advance of July 30, 2007.

USCIS will accept Forms I-129F, I-131, I-140, I-360, I-485, I-765 and I-907 filed with the new “Direct Filing” location in advance of the July 30, 2007 effective date, that are otherwise properly filed.

Please visit www.uscis.gov frequently for filing updates or call the National Customer Service Center at

800- 375-5283 for up-to-date information.

Here is the direct link to the new filing address schedule. Sorry, it's a bit long.

Thank you so much - we are trying to get the petition in before 30th July anyway and due to the news on the homepage of VJ didn't want to send it to California if possible...

Quick question as it seems to be the right place for it:

If my fiance is filing an I-129F and he lives in California does the petition *have* to be sent to the California Center? Obviously post 30th July it does but where can we send it to before this date? Also is there any difference in centers in terms of how quick they are to process the petitions? Only we already booked the wedding but the USPS is not being our friend...

If you look at the 'schedule' above (in the USCIS link), you'll see that your fiance must send the petition to the California Service Center.

Booking a wedding before starting the visa process is risky. Hope it works out for you, but there are no guarantees (and the USPS will be the least of your concerns).

Yes... You dont have an option. And I 2nd what Tracy said, its VERY risky to already have wedding plans if you havent even filed. We made plans when we got to the consulate stage, but so much can go wrong, its hard to plan so far out.

I know - I'm getting so scared about it all now because we have so much riding on it all - maybe I shouldn't have been so stupid but I let my fiance handle much of the visa research because I get so confused with so many websites and things pointing you in all directions and when I found out the timeline I freaked... I think wedding insurance is going to be a must :/

I suppose keeping fingers crossed is going to be essential until February - I'll end up with arthritis but it will be worth it! Some praying, superstition and maybe some good karma wouldn't go amiss either... anyone need any favours?!
