K1 - NOA2 received, how long until the US embassy in London contacts me?

Hello and apologies if this is a dumb question.

On July 11 our initial K1 application was approved and we received the NOA2 letter in the mail.

I'm unsure of the next steps.

I am the alien fiance living in the UK. What happens now that we received the NOA2? Should the US embassy in London contact me? And how long should it take?

I would be really grateful if anybody could point me in the right direction.

I am in the process of gathering the materials for "What to send to your fiance once the I-129F is approved (Receive NOA2):" as described here

Is there anything else I should be doing?

  1. USCIS (Homeland Security) will hand off your case file to the NVC (Dept of State).
  2. NVC will assign you a new Dept of State case number LNDXXXXXXXXX (for London) and send your petition file to the embassy. They notify the petitioner of the new number and that the case has gone to London.
  3. Embassy will notify beneficiary they have received the file, give you the new LND number, and invite you to follow the directions on their website to gather your documents, submit the visa application form online, attend a medical, and choose your own interview date online.

Here’s the instructions on the embassy website https://uk.usembassy.gov/visas/fiancee-2/applying-for-the-visa/ Read all the links including what documents you need to gather now.

And here’s the medical clinic website. It is too soon to make your appointment, but if you scroll down you will see what you will need at your appointment so you can get those things in hand.

The only thing your fiancé needs to send you is the I-134 Affidavit of Support and proof of income. That can be a 2021 tax transcript or an employer letter stating job, how long, and current yearly salary. London does not require multiple proof of income from K1s as suggested on Visa Journey.

For London, you do not need a copy of the petition, the NOA2, or new proof of relationship, or photos together. They receive the petition and can view your relationship in that.

Make a timeline and profile on Visa Journey.

Order your police certificate.
Get any immunisations you will need for adjustment of status NOW, before your visa medical exam. It saves you a big hassle and expense  in the US if you get signed off in London at your visa exam. Hopefully you have two Covid jabs already. Make sure those are in your immunisation records at your GP.

Thank you for all the information.

She sent me the I-134 but it got lost in the post so instead she's sent me a PDF of it digitally signed. I've read that signed by hand is better but I'm worried about spending money on shipping another one just for it not to turn up again. Do you know if it's worth trying another mailed one for the sake of having a hand signature?

I had gathered a lot of new proof of relationship, thinking it would be needed, oh well.

Got the police certificate.

Do you know how long it should take for notification of the LND number? Or hard to say?

I keep meaning to make a timeline, must get round to that..

I don’t keep up with timelines anymore, but plenty people obsess over them still. And your timeline will help others see how timing is going. Be sure and put London as your consulate on your profile page. Have a look in the K1 progress forum perhaps for times. But while there, keep in mind that each embassy has their own vibe and process so the experience of a Filipina is not going to translate to what to expect in London. London is such an easy interview…turn in your documents and have a short friendly chat standing at a window like at the post office. You won’t believe how easy and short it is.

You have months yet,,  so she could put another in the regular mail and try it. Don’t waste money on fancy FedEx sending. Actually London has accepted scanned and emailed copies for several years now. You print and take to the interview a copy with her signature on it. Digitally signed? Meh.

Do you know the 4 jabs for adults? (Plus 2 Covid). You likely need only 2 jabs, maybe just one if your medical is before the start of flu season Oct 1, but that may not be possible.  I have a copy paste of the shots I can post.

I think all the jabs I need are listed on the page you linked here right?

I have just this week gained access to my NHS 'detailed coded record' which provides my full medical history but I don't see an easy way in the app to find previous vaccines (other than the covid vaccine which of course is it's own section). So I might ask my GP about getting proof of my previous vaccines but they don't have the best reputation.

I am also under the impression that there is one vaccine not available in the UK that I'll need to get in the US at some point but correct me if I'm wrong there.

Your talking about varicella. Just say you had chickenpox when you were a child and it is waived. No written proof needed. I said “My Mum said I had chickenpox when I was 4yrs old”. Done.

They should be able to print out your Personal Care Record (?). (I forget the name all the time).summary Care Record(?) It summarizes recent visits, meds, immunisations, conditions treated. I didn’t do that because myK1 was before they required it. I am just describing what others have posted in this forum. They have posted photos as well.

Here are the shots needed for 19 through 59 years of age:

  • Td or Tdap - Tetanus/diptheria/pertussis or get DT, DTP or DtaP and it will be accepted. The latest shot must be no longer than 10 years ago or you need a booster. In the UK they will give Revaxis which is Tetanus/diphtheria +polio. Adults don’t need polio for immigration but that’s the combo available in the UK. They don’t have a Tetanus and diphtheria only jab like Adacel given in the US.
  • MMR - (if born in 1957 or later)-Mumps/measles/rubella.  It's two doses in your life, but if you get the first dose, and 4 weeks haven't passed by your medical, they will waive the second dose for "insufficient time interval". If you only had one dose as a child, get a second one before the medical.
  • Varicella - Not routinely given in the UK. A history of having chickenpox excuses you from the shot. They take your word for it at the visa medical exam. They will also waive the shot in the UK for "not routinely available".
  • Influenza - Required during flu season only, October 1 through March 31.  If your medical is not during flu season, you don't need it.
  • COVID-19 vaccine - Completely vaccinated with dose 1&2. (New starting 1-Oct-2021).

Edit to add: I see you did a profile but your visa says F1 not K1.

FYI on recent change -- Hepatitis B vaccine is now also required for all applicants up to 59 years old -- https://www.cdc.gov/immigrantrefugeehealth/panel-physicians/vaccinations.html#tbl1
