You don't have any pending petitions, so it's not a huge deal right now that you filed an incorrect AR-11 the first time. More importantly, double check your address when you file for your AOS. :)

Just file another change of address, they should go with the newest change of address. Also don't forget I-865 for your sponsor.

The OP hasn't filed for AOS yet.

Legally all aliens have to have their correct and current address on file, so it is important even though they haven't filed.

Sorry to hijack the thread, but that brings up a question... the address on file online is my parents' address. When we filled out the AOS paperwork we filled it out with our new address, but didn't know to do the AR-11. Is he legally required to do the AR-11 even though they have our new address? If so, would filling out the AR-11 with AOS in processing confuse things, even if the AR-11 is just changing the address on file to the address used in the AOS paperwork?

Well, I don't see how it would be confusing things seeing as the AR-11 would just reflect the address they already know. As to whether or not you should send an AR-11 past its due date, it is up to you I guess. I don't think they track people down that often who have failed to file, but I'm sure all of us on VJ still want to follow all the regulations just in case, so it's upto you to do one or not. Just remember in the future that you have to file AR11 within 10 days of moving, and and I865 (the US citizen spouse does this since they filled out the I864 vouching for the immigrant, also if you have cosponsors that ever move they have to fill out one of those too) and if you have a case pending you need to call the 1800 number to be sure they send your letters to the right address as well.

The OP already refiled another change of address. I should have been clearer in my response that they haven't filed for AOS yet so they don't have a record on file for the sponsor of the I-864 (which would require an I-865 if their sponsor is the spouse and has moved with them).

I didn't know about the AR-11 requirement, heh, whoops. Now I know. Can filling out the AR-11 past its due date bring any negative effects on us? I was worried about it confusing things because I wasn't sure if they would pull the AOS paperwork to try to update the address on it or whatnot, I don't want them to touch the AOS stuff for any reason other than normal processing. I'd prefer to do everything legal I just want to know the details before filling out the form so I know what I'm getting myself into. ;)

I read through the I-865 and it doesn't look like I have to fill it out, "If at any time in the past you completed a Form I-864, Affidavit of Support, to sponsor an immigrant, you are required to report your change of address within 30 days of the change if the sponsorship agreement is still in force." I filled out the I-134 for his K-1. I did fill out an I-864 for his AOS but it's with our new address.

You fill out the I-865 if you move and have already filed for AOS. If you moved before you filed AOS, then you wouldn't need to fill it out. As for negative effects of doing AR-11 late, I don't know. You can read on the form what the consequences for not filing are, but I've never heard of them being put into action, at least among the sample of people on VJ.

Nope we moved before filing for AOS, and our new address is on the I-864, so ok I don't have to fill out the I-865. I'll just do a little reading into the AR-11 and consequences and go fill it out online. Thanks for the help!

I really don't think you need to file since USCIS has your new/current address already on file with your AOS, EAD and AP applications.

I didn't file AR-11 either after entering on my K3 and before my AOS. My husband moved to a new place before I got here so the address that was on my I-130 and I-129F were different than where I ended up living. We did move again after filing AOS and I filed AR-11 and I-865 at that point.

While we're on the subject of the AR-11. How do you know that they have actually updated it? Do you get an email/letter in the mail or do you have to call USCIS to confirm? Sent in mine 9 days ago and I only got an email saying the requested was submitted.
