Silly Question About Evidence

We still have about nine months before we have to file to remove conditions..... But I was just wondering.....

Since we were approved through Cali without an interview (and those "cases" are now starting to file to remove conditions) -- are you only providing "evidence" from the time the GC was issued (as they ask for) -- OR -- are you also including "evidence" prior to that date (i.e., wedding photos, invitations, vacations, etc.) things that you would have provided at the initial interview if you had one?

The only thing I included from the time before I received the conditional GC were a couple of vacation pictures and cards we received for our first anniversary and the first Christmas. Everything else I sent was dated sometime during the last 2 years only (bills, mortgage statement, etc). We'll see if they come back asking for more...

From what I recall, they want evidence from the date of marriage, not from the date a conditional GC was issued.

Form I-751 instructions:

3. Evidence of the Relationship.

Submit copies of documents indicating that the marriage upon which you were granted conditional status was enteredin ''good faith'' and was not for the purpose of circumventing immigration laws. Submit copies of as many documents asyou wish to establish this fact and to demonstrate the circumstances of the relationship from the date of the marriage to the present date, and to demonstrate any circumstances surrounding the end of the relationship, if it has ended.

Filed AOS from F-1
Green Card approved on 01/04/07
Conditions removed 01/29/09

Citizenship Oath 08/23/12

The instructions ask for evidence from the date of marriage. Most people concentrate on evidence from the previous two years, and that seems to work well, but it certainly wouldn't hurt to include a small amount of relevant older evidence. FWIW, all our evidence was from after the conditional GC was issued.

If you watch around here, the vast majority of cases are approved without RFE's or interviews. Most people are so far over the minimum requirements that we have a hard time determining what the minimum requirements are. My off-the-cuff suggestion: Be nice to the adjudicator. If you've got a lot of stuff, try to whittle it down to your most convincing 50 pages or so, and save the rest in reserve. Don't make them read 24 electric bills addressed to both of you, along with 24 statements from your joint checking account, and 24 phone bills. One or two bills/statements from each kind of account is probably enough, and any more probably doesn't convince them of much. That's especially true if you provide old statements from some accounts, and newer ones for others, so that the whole time period is more-or-less covered. In the unlikely event they want more, they'll ask for it via an RFE before they call for an interview.

It's not silly at all.

Thanks everyone.....sometimes I just need to be reassured!!!

I made "random" copies of the bills/statements (from the point of marriage) and I'm going to make tabs and put everything in an accordian file so I can quickly see what I have and be able to add to it (and take away) easily.
