Update… fiancé was called by the embassy in her country and then emailed instructions for scheduling the interview and what needs to be done prior to the interview. So it appears we are close to getting her here.

Wow that's fantastic news! Congratulations, I'm jealous but really happy for you!!

Would you be able to post up the wait times you experienced? We're on day 53 with still no update from NVC.

My i-140 was approved on 7 June 2022, and I am yet to receive any correspondence from NVC. I don't know whether I should contact them or keep waiting?

For anybody interested, here is our most recent timeline of events:

NOA2 Received: June 30, 2022

NVC Inquiry #1 sent: August 5, 2022 (36 days elapsed)

NVC Inquiry #2 sent: August 17, 2022 (48 days elapsed)

NVC Inquiry Response received: August 29, 2022 (60 days elapsed)

Response from NVC said the following:

Dear Sir/Madam:

The correct case number is <redacted>.

You will be notified once this case is forwarded to the assigned US Embassy/Consulate General.

We did not receive an NVC receipt letter. However we now have an NVC case number, and we are awaiting response from our related US Embassy/Consulate General.

K1 does not need NVC invoice number as there is no need to login to CEAC.  K1 do not upload documents to CEAC.

Something I didn't know yet, thanks for the info.

Am I correct in understanding this is the process in the NVC stage for K1? I find a lot of info that is confusing to me across the forum:

  • After NOA2, USCIS forwards the application to NVC
  • NVC sends a letter/email to the petitioner with the case number
  • NVC forwards the package to the embassy/consulate and notifies the petitioner about it
  • the embassy/consulate contacts the beneficiary and instructs them how to proceed for the interview

I wanted to join in, since we are in the same boat. NOA2 received July 8 2022. Nothing from NVC yet, we sent an inquiry on August 9 2022.

Do we know the delays are also partially the fault of USCIS not forwarding documents to NVC in time, I read something like this for I-140 petitions?

Currently it is taking 45-60 days for USCIS to forward some approved  petitions  to NVC. Mine is currently going on 50 days with no case # yet. The say to give 30 days to inquire about your case at NVC.  If NVC holds your petition for 60 days or more they will send you an email with your case # and let you know that your embassy has a backlog.  Your notice will come Via petitioner email and they will give further instructions for the next steps.

Mine is more than 100 days since when my case was approved by USCIS and I am yet to hear from NVC

Have you inquired to USCIS? NVC
just to find out if it has been sent to NVC yet?

Yes, I sent an inquiry a month ago to NVC, but yet to hear from them. I did not contact USCIS yet

Maybe the embassy has a backlog?? I’ve seen some cases that are still at USCIS for that long too, have you inquired to see if NVC has your case??

1-800-375-5283 and then say infopass for a live agent.
