Time outside USA question

I am filing my n400 after 3 years due to marriage to a US citizen.

I am completing the online form and note the following;

We count the day you depart from the United States and the day you return to the United States as days inside the United States. We only count days that you spent outside of the United States during the last 5 years, even if your trip was longer than 5 years ago.

I do not understand. I came on a K1 visa 1 week before I got married in 2019 so was outside the USA prior to then. How do I complete the form? It is asking me for the last 5 years. Thanks

it is since coming to the US on the K1 visa

living outside prior to visa is not counted

and mostly the 5 year part is for those applying under the 5 year rule

I pretended it said “three years” every place it said five years and answered appropriately based on that. You get a perk as a K1 (spouse of USC) to naturalize in three years. The general rule is five years as an LPR so that’s how the form is written.
