Proof Of Relationship

In my waiting for the next step NOA2 I'm gathering the "proof" of our relationship, i.e: phone bills, messenger logs, emails, photos, cards sent through the mail, video and letters from friends and family.

I'm thinking do I keep all logs, emails and phone bills separate or organize them according to date by keeping everything together that happened on the same day?

Do I place these in a binder and if so do I hole punch to the side or at the top?

Also does the video have to be in a certain format? Right now it's on Hi-8 video..do I need to transfer it to a DVD or a VHS?

Also for the photos can I be crafty and creative and make lots of notations? Or do they just want plain and simple with a few words describing each photo? (I remember reading that somewhere on VJ, but I don't know what it was in reference to)

I figure so many of you have completed the interview and presented your evidence..and I thought you could give me excellent advice how to organize it.

Or perhaps there is already a thread about this someone can point me in the right direction.

Thanks so much to everyone here at VJ.

I sent the copies of all forms I sent to the service center with the NOAs attached on top. Then I just printed off the phone bills and stapled them in a batch. Emails, cards (no electronic cards alllowed) and pictures were just in sections. I know no tapes were allowed at our embassy for sec reasons. Good luck.

I've started printing the messenger logs and so far 600 pages and I estimate another 1000 pages to go. So that's 1600 pages for the logs alone. I'm thinking of putting them in plastic page protectors and then into a binder. I've highlighted all the phone calls and I'll do the same making another binder for the phone records. What about the photos? Do I just send them in an album? Or mount them to paper with explainations of each picture? I have approximately 400 photos.

If there is a guide for this on VJ can someone please give me the link. I've looked through the guides and all I could find was what items to collect and send. Not exactly how to present them.

Thanks so much for any information.

What about the photos? Do I just send them in an album? Or mount them to paper with explainations of each picture? I have approximately 400 photos.

I used photo sheets, and did not put photos back to back, so that when they flip the photo sheet over, they can read the back where I wrote 'photo of USC and spouse on XXX, 2005 at XXX place"

I don't know if you have to submit 400 photos though!

David and I separated everything into different categories (like bills, letters, emails, chat records, the packages we sent to one another, etc....) then we used an accordion style folder and every category had it's own pocket. We didn't bother so much with dates of those things, but we made sure all the tax returns and bills were in chronological order. Also, for the photos I got those little plastic things you put in photo albums and put all the photos into them. I made VERY simple notations (date, who was in the picture, what the occasion was) on them and that was it. We didn't have a video or anything, so I don't quite know what you should do with that. Good luck with everything!!

David & Erin [br]5962a06.jpg.png

6/19/2002- Met Online

11/10/2002- Met in person for the first time at Buffalo International Airport we spend a blissful but all too short week together.

2/23/03- David proposes on the beach in Melbourne Florida at sunrise during his second visit.

9/26/03- After much talk with USCIS we decide to go ahead and get married during David's third visit, with David planning on returning to Ireland the following week.

9/30/03- Phone USCIS to ask questions on filling out paper work and USCIS officer informs us that if David is already here he doesn't need to leave. After numerous calls to the Irish Embassy and two more calls to USCIS to confirm, we decide he will stay.

12/02/03- Petition for AOS recieved

10/8/04- EAD FINALLY arrives

11/10/2004- Our Son Colin Michael Kieran born two years to the minute after our first face to face meeting!

1/26/06- Recieved interview appointment letter.

3/09/06- AOS approved! David is a permanent resident with stamp in passport.

4/4/06- Green card arrives. We are now free to travel back to Ireland so David can see his family for the first time in more than two years.

Excellent idea Thanks!

Perhaps I'll do that to 50 photos, but still have the entire collection with my love, just in case!

Thanks so much for your reply. I do have an accordian style folder I've been using to keep everything together so far. That sounds like a simple way to send everything to my love as well. I'm also thinking maybe I'll type up a "cover letter" showing the date and times of conversations..then referencing to the phone calls on that particular day and any emails or cards recieved on that day. It may be a simple way for them to see the information all in one place and then if they need proof of that information it's all there in the logs/emails/phone bills.

No problem. We did a cover letter for everything as well. At our final appointment, the interviewer said that it took him two days to go through all of our file, (our file was about 3 times the size of the other ones he had on his shelf) so I know where you're coming from with your 1600 pages and 400 photos. We felt like it was better to send too much rather than too little. :) Take care!
