My wife and I are trying to figure out how long it will take to bring her sister over from the Philippines as an IR Immigrant. The Philippines website says for 4th Family Numbers are available only for applicants whose priority date is earlier than the cut-off date listed below for the Philippines they have a cut off date of 01 May 1985 Philippines VISA Bulletin

Though, we are hoping to get her sister here by the end of January 2008. Before my wife gives birth to our 2nd child.

Is that even possible or should we get her a B-2 Visitor VISA with a Invitation Letter then once she gets here, we go for the Immigration? Since I am active duty we do need someone to help with the kids since I'll be deployed for long periods of time which is why we want to bring her here

Thanks

It would take about 25 years to get her sister here..... going the B2 route may get her here for a visit but she would not be able to remain.... she would have to return before her visa expired....

Acurate and well stated. When I read that put so clearly and succinctly, I couldn't help but think: Boy, isn't that a dose of cold hard reality!

He wants child help, so needs a work visa.

Realistically no chance.

So basically go with a B-2 VISA with a letter of invitation and try to extend her stay while she is in the US?

But doesn't she need the B2 Tourist VISA just to come to the states? Since the Philippines is not a part of the VISA Waiver program.

Rick, What everyone here is saying is that the practical reality of your wife's sister being able to get a B2 visa to the usa from the philippines is close to zero. You may want to be talking with your gal about other child care solutions that are already here in the usa.

your wife's sister getting a tourist visa depends on her situation in the Philippines. She would need to prove significant ties to The Philippines to be granted a tourist visa from the Embassy in Manila. The Embassy would want to feel she's low risk of going TNT ( Tago Ng Tago )
