Please forgive me if I seem to be posting this question all over the place ..

After the sudden and unexpected I130 approval I'm scrambling to find out as much as I can so we can decide how to proceed, either to keep the I-130 at bay and pray the K3 gets approved or just keep them both going to see where it goes. The one thing that is holding me back is the interview times. Both the K3 and the CR1 interview would be held at the Lagos, Nigeria Consulate. From reading the VJ stats it is clear that there is a huge difference between the wait for a K3 interview (roughly 90 days) and a CR1 interview (320 days). These stats could be way off based on curves thrown by oddball cases. After reviewing others timelines and learning that the NVC is the one to schedule the CR1 interview in Lagos, I'm starting to believe the stats are totally absurd.

Either way, here is my question...

If the K3 got to Lagos first and the CR1 was short to follow, couldn't I request the quicker date for the K3 be replaced by the CR1? Or would they drop the K3 date and make me take the later CR1 date?

The best possible outcome is that your CR1 case arrives after you know your K3 interview date. With an I-130 petition on station, they will conduct a CR1 interview at the scheduled K3 appointment. You should not need to request this but I would, if I were in that situation.

Thank you for your quick and insightful answer. I'm going to hope for that outcome.
