A couple questions about K-1 Visa

1. I am taking time to watch more youtube videos of binders being put together to turn in and I do not see anything on the website specifically stating that the passport like photos have to be like hard copy cut out photos. I currently made a document and copy and pasted both our passport photos onto that. Do you think that is okay? Should I put our photos on two separate documents and/or cut them?

2. My boyfriend did not propose but we both agree we want to get married and just have him move to the states already and start our lives. I know some people on youtube shared proposals etc. Would this harm our application? I do not care for a proposal. In our text messages we discuss marriage and how we can't wait so I do share that, along with state in our story that we both agree on no official proposal then there is the letters of intent to marry.

p.s speaking of letter to intent needing to be signed, he wrote his signature on a piece of paper and scanned it to me. Will that be accepted for the letter of intent?

Thank you

Please take my advice and do yourself a favor: stop watching YouTube videos immediately. They are the worst source of information. You’re much better off relying on official instructions and VJ.

Passport style photograph means passport style photograph on actual photo paper. No, regular print paper is not okay.

There is no requirement for ‘official proposal’ aka one knee and ring thing. I wouldn’t even mention anything about it as that is not necessary. Many couples here did not have that and that is completely fine.

Another point, straight from USCIS:

In preparing your packet, remember:

  • Do not use binders or folders that we cannot easily disassemble

I strongly encourage you to read their form filing tips to properly assemble your package:

You have to keep in mind that USCIS will pull everything apart to scan and they throw out everything else that comes (paper clips, folders, etc). All we used were some paper clips as that’s what they want (as opposed to stapling)

1. For the passport photos, we put them in a ziploc bag, and tapped it to a document paper and stating that they are the 2 passport photos.

2. In addition to the letters of intent to marry, you can also include affidavit of single status, which is just a notarized letter stating that you are single. In some countries like the Philippines, there is the an actual government document for single status called CENOMAR to prove that you are eligible to marry.

Wow so glad I asked, thank you so much again! I have my passport photo printed from when I took it last week so I will print his tomorrow via photo print at the store. Thank you for the tip on not using a binder as well, I will stay off youtube for tips because I see everyone using a binder and trying to be real extra with presentation. I will only purchase paper clips! Taking a look at the link now you shared about how to assemble. Aiming to send this in Friday!
