Wife is authorized user on credit card, but checking account is joint

Hi all,

Quick question and title really says it all, but I (US citizen) am the primary account owner of our credit card account and my wife is an authorized user. Therefore, my name is on the monthly statements but we both have our own cards. Our checking account is joint and shows both of our names on the statements and of course shows the monthly credit card charge which would match the statement. When I include our credit card account statements, would a page showing that she is an authorized user suffice?

Yes, that is fine especially since you have the joint checking account with both names.

We did that for one of our credit card accounts because it didn't show his name anywhere else. Another CC account showed both names on the statements so we did send those.

That's what we sent.

Finally done...

Can I ask, did you provide years of bank statements? I feel like its excessive at this point to include 3 years worth of joint banking statements to show he's been on the account since we were married.

There is nothing excessive about it. There more proof you can provide the lesser chance you would receive an RFE

It's nearly 200 pages just for one bank account. I do think that's excessive without even including all the other accounts, tax returns, and credit card statements. I know what they want to see but man, I feel like 1 statement a year should be fine

Follow the 4 statements/ invoices/ bills per each year married. Additional guidance in @Adventine post on exactly your questions

Many people choose to sent quarterly statements instead of sending every month. If you have a lot of evidence, you should be fine doing that. Some people get more peace of mind through sending every statement.

However, I think you need to look at it a different way. It may seem "excessive" but the last thing anyone wants when going through these immigration processes is to get an RFE. So prioritize sending as much quality evidence as possible.

It helps keeping paper statements on for your banking, utilities etc. Just receive them monthly and put in a box. Then you don't have to print too much. Understandably, the shipping / printing costs may be frustrating, but hopefully this is a once in a lifetime expense. It may cost more in the end if you end up getting RFE / delays. I guess it depends on one's comfort level.

Your intuition on what they want to see is on point. They want the Whole Big Picture and a concise Exhibit/Cover Letter with a descriptive sentence for each is your most effective paintbrush for the entire 2 years

Including all accounts and reducing to 3 statements per year ( beginning, middle, end) is effective,

Tie in reference to where living expenses are paid from ..for example

# 4. Joint Cell phone statements for periods xyz , paid by auto debit from Joint Account abc.

This is basically my guiding philosophy. My wife and have a typical marriage with basically everything joint, living together, etc. There isn’t anything to hide and our evidence is as strong as it can get, but there’s nothing to lose by front-loading our application. It’s indeed a once in a lifetime expense and action. Therefore, we’ll be going with monthly statements. Two accounts, 38 months, two pages each (so 4 total per month). That comes out to 152 pages. USCIS is free to examine it all. We’re “sacrificing” some extra paper and ink from Staples. Worth it, IMO.

If f you send a case with 5000 pages understand that someone has to read each page.

A good table of contents would ensure they can find needed page quickly. And most likely they're not going to read every letter in bank statements, but rather able to pick a sample. Whereas missing statements can trigger questions and result in RFE.

I am interested in an example where a couple sent 4 statements for each joint account and an RFE was generated for the missing statements.
