Mother had her I130 visa approved while waiting on her B1 visa. What should we do?

My mother's B1 tourist visa expired at the beginning of 2022, and we've been in the process of renewing her visa so she can visit me in the US. However, a couple of months before that, I became a citizen and also applied for her I-130. I had heard that it can take years before the I130 is approved so I also filed for her B1 visa to be renewed.

But early this month her I130 petition was approved, and she has her B1 visa interview tomorrow. Should she cancel the interview? We're not sure what she should do, and Im unable to get a hold of a human being when I call USCIS.

My mom still hasnt decided to move to America any time soon, but we figured we'd file for the I130 just in case theres ever another pandemic, or any other circumstance like that in which she wouldnt be allowed in the US without going thru quarantine.

No reason to cancel the interview. If it's approved, she can visit the US if she wants.

2015-09-23: NVC received file

2015-10-05: NVC assigned Case number, Invoice ID & Beneficiary ID

2016-06-30: DS-261 completed, AOS Fee Paid, WL received

2016-07-05: Received IV invoice, IV Fee Paid

2016-07-06: DS-260 Submitted

2016-07-07: AOS and IV Package mailed

2016-07-08: NVC Scan

2016-08-08: Case Complete

2017-06-30: Interview, approved

2017-07-04: Visa in hand

2017-08-01: Entry to US

Hopefully she applied for a B2

 

Not sure you realise that an immigrant petition has a limited validity not something you can file and keep in your back pocket
